Try and give the whole kind of sign a sorta "shine" stripe(s) and maybe have the fireman hat cast a shadow over the face? Or shade some depth into it, it's looking too plain right now, but I love love the message states they are smexy

Also you could maybe try not using black inside the fireman hat, the black kind of takes away from it

Thanks for the suggestion. Yeah it looked so plain after seeing it. So I added your suggestions; it looks way better.

 

So far, any tips? Not even sure if this is allowed. I want to make it a gif with the star dimming when it's half a heart.


Maybe the shape is off a little? Not sure if I should remove the highlight at the top, or add more of them.

This is my first time experimenting with pixel art so I need some serious feedback. Obviously it's not done yet, but how can I improve on what I already have? Also for the half-heart should I have a bomb explosion or the about-to-explode, flashing red bomb? I'm not sure if I'm skilled enough to make an explosion lol. Feedback appreciated.

I like this, but I think the half heart state should have the gem cracked in half completely to make it more noticeable. Other then that, I enjoy how this looks, could maybe make the message bubbles more interesting though.

I've attempted about 7 different versions for the crack, and this one fit perfectly for me as the other versions I most likely am not experienced with so they didn't turn out too well. As for the bubbles I'll probably change it if I can find something much smoother and simplistic but matching the luxurious theme I have with the hearts.

Lol I request an about to explode and you would understand this if you'll you saw one of my posts.
