Well after an event an admin usually has to make sure the players got their rewards and have to clear their PMs, but I agree 15 min is quite excessive.

It literally takes a minute thirty to add a hat, and the 2 more to clear pms. They are supposed to help the player (comic relief >) not turn a cold shoulder to us orphans in the rain

I think that probably stems from the idea that everyone here had in their head that if you have ever been banned you won't be considered at all. I'm sure since Jarace has cleared that up you'll probably get a more qualified pool of applicants with gameplay experience.

I'm excited to hear that, but also conflicted. Did it really keep people from applying?

As someone who often leads guilds and stuff, if I was in your position I feel like it'd be on my own shoulders to go out and seek the most qualified GPs and not depend entirely on applications.

This is a major assumption here, but maybe part of it is that you don't enjoy iClassic as much as you once did? I have you added (because you've been helpful) and I see you on now and then, but I'm not sure how much of the game you actually experience anymore and that probably limits your ability to know the active playerbase and who's qualified. I could probably get four or five extremely qualified people to apply, but uh… it's been made painfully clear that you guys have no interest in hiring me, so it's kind of mutual from my end that if you're not going to let me help out then I'm not going to. It's not even "we work with what we get," it's like "we work with what we accept."

We do get what you mean.. There are some unfortunate implications of various rules set in place that we just have to follow when hiring people, so in some situations our hands are tied. That being said, none of these choices that we are making when hiring people are personal and they really shouldn't ever be.

Speaking for myself, I would love to dedicate more time to playing than I have lately. It's never so bad that I'm behind updates or general going-ons, but I have been focusing on staff to a point that I haven't had time to just enjoy being a player as much as I used to. Not to say I don't enjoy doing my job, of course - but it's a different kind of enjoyment.

2 minutes isn't very accurate. If the staff member decided to go through them after an event, it could take up to 15 minutes. Take into account that despite all the spam there are still people who may be asking for help and we would have to reply as well. An event with 2.8k people on can lead to a good 100 pms and in other cases maybe way more. I've hosted a good number of events myself and the excessive spam has definitely taken more or less 10 minutes each time. Before anyone decided to say that reports and uploads are neglected during this period of time, there is always another gp online if it's a gp hosting

Admins reset your status for every single thing, it's better to put in stuff like, KIK RP pm or Farm a hour get 500 gralats than "This game really needs a damn update" what gets reset after a few hours lol.

Was an answer to the guy who created that thread, realized that this thread now got a bit offtopic.

Asking for roleplay is fine as long as there is no suggestive sexual content involved. And yes, "This game needs a damn update" would probably be reset because it is a kid's game.

God knows "Hey guys. Come to the guild house." should be censored. Just like the dwellings of beavers, updates and .coms are insidious monstrosities that must be stopped!

You'd have to elaborate, because when people apply who have proven time and time again that they can do a higher quality of work than what you've got (be it GP or GFX teams) and they're ignored, I have to question the rules in place

When there are people willing to sit in the spar arena, without recognition, offering to pass up any benefits of being staff, just so they can handle the daily speed and health hackers (because 90% of GPs won't), and you guys say "no" while simultaneously claiming in this thread that you're always looking for more help… it seems sort of contradictory  

Putting little kids in charge of policing online chats for games/other systems where there is bound to be some annoying, but ultimately not harmful or offensive language against them is a horrible idea.

This guy got everything reset and warned for saying he hates admins? Lol, I hope these 'admins' grow a thicker skin before they get any sort of job or they won't last a week.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying what he did is right, or mature, or anything else. But to get upset to the point where you threaten to restrict someone's gameplay (yes, that IS what a warning is) over "I hate you" is silly. Young children scream "I hate you" at things for no reason when throwing temper tantrums because they don't know any other words. Is that really offensive to the younger GPs? Lol.

edit: @Jarace, there's been many very qualified, mature people who've applied just out of my friend group alone and the only one who ever heard a response back was Fulgore. Since you guys seem to be working on improving anyways, one improvement would be not to hire 13 year olds and instead hire people who are actually mature/have actually had a real job, since younger teenagers/children aren't really capable of being unbiased or leaving their emotions out of administrative decisions. Hence why somebody got warned for having a status that says "i hate adamans", lol.

I mean I got banned for having "y'all a bunch of fat ******s lol" in status so it's not surprising.

That's a poor excuse when, as me and Thallen have both said in the response you quoted and my response right after, that there have been plenty of people much more qualified than most of the GPs now who have applied/offered to help. The team seems to be relatively capable of screening people before they hire them, otherwise there would never be any new staff/GPs, but they seem to be screening on objectively wrong criteria.

Also, like Thallen said, some of these people have been willing to go without any sort of recognition of administrative benefits/powers whatsoever other than what's required to get rid of hackers that continue to crop up and cause problems for hours on end, despite the possibility of hacking being a known issue to admins and a known flaw in the game engine (for the past 19 years since the game was first released on PC). See the problem here? You have people willing to do the GPs job for them, since most of them can't/won't, without being given any power, but there's some sort of obscure, seemingly bad screening process in the way of that.

Yes, and my point is that if we're going through this rigorous process and still hiring GPs that either go full-corrupt mode (rare cases) or do a poor job and/or get fired, how is that any better than "taking a chance" hiring someone who can clearly do a better job but doesn't fit whatever the set requirements are? The main requirement should be that you're capable of doing a good job…

You make it seem as if it's some massive risk to hire a GP, like you can't monitor them and ensure that they're doing their job correctly or undo the things they've done in some small period of time. Soren was allowed to go 2 weeks sharing his account with a player and abusing his powers before finally someone paid attention to me complaining about it on the forums and had him fired.
