Books.
Hey, everyone. What are some of your favorite books that you would recommend to others? Currently, I've been reading a lot of Daniel Quinn books. Ishmael and My Ishmael are two absolutely fantastic novels. It's a journey through the mind and spirit, and is very philosophical. Quinn uses a large vocabulary in it, and is rather off-putting for some readers. If you know of any good philosophical reads, please tell me! So, recommend me some books to read! |

You'd probably like Flowers for Algernon and The Man who Mistook his Wife for a Hat. Right now I'm reading 1Q84 by Murakami, which is good but not my favorite book that he's put out. |

Depending on what you like, I could give you a few more. Those two are pretty good reads no matter what genre you normally are into as long as you're looking for something more than a quick story. But I like reading stuff and sharing books with people so shoot me a PM if you ever want a couple extra.

Hey Poe! Long time, no see! OT: I don't really like the scifi or fantasy novels but The Enchantress of The Stars was actually really good (despite the name). Pretty short and fantastic blend of scifi and fantasy. Story is told from 3 points of view (a futuristic soldier like a Master Chief figure, a frodo like figure, and a princess leia like character), each chapter being one point of view. The comedy comes finding out what items actually are (for example the 'piece of the sun' is a flashlight, etc. sounds lame, but it's pretty great). Also Milkweed is pretty good. It's about a little Jewish orphan boy who wants to become a Nazi, in the middle of WWII. |

And, sweet! Those both sound like very good reads. I will be sure to check them out. |

Recently read Violence by Slovaj Žižek. It was brutal but also very rewarding once I got through it. I think his individual anecdotes and stuff are more worthwhile and impressive than the thesis of the book as a whole. Would definitely recommend it... certain parts are especially relevant because of the recent violence in Baltimore and Ferguson.
