But I can think of a situation when this option is useful to you. Say i am leading a towering guild and two of my core members decided to have a drama in the guildchat over a girl or something and affecting everyone. Say I didnt want to kick them because they are my friends and or because they have contributed enough and or because I believe I shouldnt really kick anyone for personal fights. The good way is to ask them to bring their fight to PM and if they still wouldnt do it, the mute button would be useful. Blocking them wouldnt do any good because everyone else in the guild will still be seeing their GC and responding to it. This has happened to me before, my current solution to problems like this is a 'temporary kick' and rec them back when they cool down. but i still think a mute button will serve better. Its tedious trying to find them again and rec again after the 'temporary kick'. Also im pretty sure there are many over zeolous 'indian chiefs' in towering guilds who are making orders even though they arent leaders. They are just enthusiastic and 'overhelpful'. If you want to kick them you could but Mute buttons can put them in their place and give them the chance to correct themselves without additional drama and grief. |

This thread is annoying enough that I would just go ahead and implement it even though I think it's stupid.

It's useful. It's a good idea. I am surprised it doesn't already exist. |

If you're in a towering situation, all of these things can cause you to lose the tower, granted you have other members who are easily distracted OR need to shout out a fast order for the other members and there's 15 messages about what some one's cat barfed up yesterday evening... or whatever it might be. Blocking and kicking are extreme. There should be some kind of middle ground. |

And you constantly criticize others for having an opinion ![]()
As to 'going through messages faster' they do not have guild chat history available to go through like private message chat, and that can lead to a problem with knowing what other folks have said if there's something significant that was sent at message 2 of 20. And as to attempting personal slights about 'leaders sitting around half the time or hops offline cuz they're lazy' - no one really cares what individual leads choose to do. This thread is about making the gameplay experience of running and managing a guild more streamlined and less of a headache... unless I'm in the wrong thread. Nope, I think the title is "Guild Chat Permission." Thanks for responses. |
