So there have been some changes to rules involving guild hats on classic...so this is gonna be fun...

Main thing is, animated 1k hats (GIF format) will no longer be allowed. 1k hats are now required to be in PNG format (just a plain, stationary hat). But before you flip that table, let me say that animated hats will be allowed once you reach 5k guild hours.

I apologize to those of you who might have already been working on a flamboyantly animated hat for a guild that has reached 1k. Maybe you could save it for when the guild reaches 5k.

Because people get 1k way too easy, and the enormous amount of large GIF files that are rolling in are taking up too much space on the server.

and also it's nice to have to earn more to get a fancier hat

I'd still rather not have 1k hats at all, but this is progress.  

My guild was going to get 1k hours with 15 of our loyalest members and get a sweet looking mage hat GIF but I guess PNG will work too.  

What if a guild reached 1k before this change and has a hat that is .gif made? My ass make better server if you make 200k ppl like graal on fb this is bound to happen ruin graal just more as it.

now if only we take a tiny step further and flatten pre-existing gif 1k hats into png too...  

Its almost amazing how vindictive and ruthless classic players are to one another yet they call era players the mean ones. Weirddd  

Are you serious, nobody does 5k hour hats, like the only people who actually do 5k hour hats are like the ldr and the ldrs Bfffls. Does this mean you people aren't gonna sell gif hats because the fact that most of graal hats are surprisingly awful given the fact you are taking gif away is pretty sad. But I guess it's preventing lag, but if you want to fix lag why not just make the area near giant blob spawn invisible. This is pretty dumb. What's next you are gonna take away the ability to make gif heads or probably get rid of custom heads and bodies overall. You might as well fire the entire Gfx staff to and just hire people who put edit heads in their status because that's pretty much what to expect without gif.  

Suddenly APNG.  

I mean the idea makes sense, with .gifs for higher level milestones, but it's just too late to implement it.

The thing is that 1,000 isn't all that easy. People who are achieving it today are working / have worked just as hard as the people who achieved it three years ago. More people are achieving it now as the game has gone on longer and grown more and more popular, but that doesn't mean that new people who are reaching the same level of achievement as many others before them no longer deserve an equal prize. I've always hated this line of thinking on Classic (and other servers for that matter) where staff seem to think that more people accomplishing the same thing represents anything other than a longer lifetime for the server.

Instead of just shifting all the rewards up a little bit as more and more people achieve them, you guys need to come up with new rewards for those who begin to reach even tower milestones. The guy who has been working for 3-4 years to reach 1,000 hours and is finally about to do it deserves the prize just as much as the people (sometimes admins) who amassed large groups of their friends to do so in a shorter period of time.
