I've pretty much watch and read mainstream anime/manga. ( Big three, SAO, AoT, Fairy tail, etc..) One Piece is my favorite anime and like Tyler said Naruto has way too many fillers. I mean One Piece has 643 episodes that I've watched, but their are only like 5 to 6 filler arcs I think. I'm also starting to get into some new anime like Hitman Reborn which is pretty bad ass. Also Blue Excorist is on my watch list too. I like your list though, you got style.

I never particularly like the mainstream animes. Most of the time, if not all the time, they are action genres, and people always talk about how epic these series are, when in fact they have quite a bit of flaws and usually takes the shine away from other series that are not so popular in the west, but have way better plot and characters.

Basically this. This seems to be the general consensus. They usually get scorned publicly, they are not normally praised for being 'good', hence why I assumed that the initial post was just trolling. However, AoT actually has enough merit to qualify as 'good', thus my confusion. Anyways... Puella Magi Madoka Magica A Masterpiece. The nihilistic themes and prevalence of true neutral characters just really resonated with my own personal life views. Having all that wrapped up in a 'cutesy magical girl' anime is just icing on the cake. |
