The Elder Scrolls Online release date has been announced! The dates are 4/4/14 for PC and Mac and in June for Xbox One and PS4. I, for one, am very excited!

Greetings everyone. As we are approaching the end of 2013 and heading into our launch year, I thought I’d take a moment to thank you, our community, for your continued support. I’d also like to give you an update on the game’s development and our launch plans for 2014.

First, thanks to everyone involved in the ESO community: those we met at trade shows, those of you on social media, and those that have had a chance to play the game and provided invaluable feedback through beta testing. I personally am humbled by the intense feelings of excitement expressed to us by the community at large. At shows like PAX East, PAX Prime, Gamescom, Eurogamer Expo, Paris Games Week, etc. – we always had three to four hour lines to play ESO. We know those wait times weren’t easy, and the great patience and enthusiastic reception you showed was remarkable. Everyone here at ZeniMax Online appreciates each and every one of you and your fantastic support of the game.

Game development is coming along very well. We completed major systems development, and are focusing on making this the Elder Scrolls game you expect: polishing the hundreds and hundreds of hours of content, making combat even more fun and responsive, fixing quest issues, and much, much more. In fact, we plan on spending the next few months before launch reacting to the latest feedback from internal and external testers and gameplay data we have collected.

As some of you know, we’ve been in beta testing for about a year now, leading up to our most recent test in late November where we had over 300,000 people in the game over a 48 hour period. We’ve had approximately 4 million people sign up for beta and that number continues to grow. We hope that just about every one of you who have signed up for beta will get an invitation to play sometime between now and the weeks before launch. These tests are very important, not only for gameplay feedback, but also to test our infrastructure. Beta tests can sometimes be a little rough when we are testing some systems for the first time with large numbers of players. So thank you to all who have participated for your understanding and support. It is very much appreciated.

Worldwide demand for The Elder Scrolls Online is extraordinarily high. This means we need to do a staggered rollout of the different versions of the game to spread out the initial service load and ensure an enjoyable, smooth gameplay experience. It is not only a game we are launching – it is a large online service as well, and our number one priority is to ensure a trouble-free, stable rollout for everyone.

We long ago promised that as soon as a version of the game is ready, we will launch it. So we’re happy to announce that the game will launch worldwide for PC and Mac players on Friday, April 4, 2014, while PlayStation 4 and Xbox One fans will see the game arriving on consoles in June 2014.

Again, thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm over the past year. We are very proud of this game and excited to share it with you. We can’t wait to see you in the game in 2014! —Matt

I plan to be joining the Aldmeri Dominion, though I cannot decide whether to be a Khajiit or Wood Elf. My perk choices will be centered around the Thief or Archer class.
What are your plans for ESO, and have any of you been chosen for Beta?  

I was really excited about the game until I found out it wasn't even being developed by Bethesda. I played in a beta weekend least month and the game is pure crap, I could not find one redeeming feature of the game. No open world, boring combat, and a boring set of skills and class progression really sealed the deal for me. I give the game less than a year with their p2p model because if they think people will pay for the crap they made just because it has the Elder Scrolls name then they are in fora big surprise.  

I mean i'm all for it but when said they $15 dollars a month I decided I would wait until they made it f2p. They lost so many supporters and plus on PS4 were getting Final Fantasy Reborn at the end of December.  

Final Fantasy: A realm reborn was an amazing game when I played in the beta. I really enjoyed myself, along with the story. I'm not sure if i'll buy it though. Also considering I don't think its f2p.. In the end, its worth it.

You do realize you're breaking the NDA by talking about it, right?

Also on a side note, I was excited for it until they announced it would cost $13 a month, and be availible for xbox one/ps4. Gonna be a pain in the ass dealing with a game that'll probably have an interface designed for consoles, and paying a subscription on top of that for a mediocre game.

I just looked up gameplay on it and it wasn't anything like I was expecting. It didn't even look like The Elder Scrolls.

I haven't seen many videos on gameplay, so the only reason I am/was expecting big things for ESO was because of the Elder Scrolls. It's a shame that the new company working on ESO is not living up to the Elder Scrolls reputation.  

ESO and FFReborn are crap imo once I got done the tutorial for the beta I just quit there and then nothing interesting really, its like any other p2p, except it also had a horrible looking customization feature.  

I'll probably try it if it goes free2play. Other than that, all I'm really looking forward to now is everquest next and Archeage, both of which seem forever away :/

The only bad thing about it going to F2P is that their going to add in game content that you have to buy with real money which might make it a pay to win, but its 10x better than paying $15 dollars a month for a game you might not even play that much.

I doubt they'll make their game P2W. Probably more go the Guild Wars route,, I'm not sure about the sequel, but in the first you could only buy vanity items or spells that were only useable in an instance PvP area

Yeah you're right, but I'm not really posting screens/videos of it (mainly because I don't want everyone here to see my email that was watermarked on the screen), so it is highly unlikely that they would go after me. In the unlikely event that they did find out who I was, I could care less if I'm not allowed to play their game.
