I generalized "medium quality" a little bit. It was good quality and pretty colors, but I didnt care much for the style. I still put Katanagatari in my top5.

@Blah64: NO. If you start people on dubbed, theyre only going to like dubbed and will never know what real anime is.  

I started watching cartoonetwork and adult swim which brought me to inyuasha and a show that sounded like myeko and it was 3D but a awesome show about students who fight in a digital world  

First anime i saw was Kikis Delivery Service, still on my Favorite movies list.

If your looking for good entry level anime I recommend starting with one's that are popular and easy to follow(ie don't start with death note). I recommend:
Soul eater(amazing anime, only like 60 episodes and not to confusing)
Full metal alchemist(good action original plot, definitely watch brotherhood, so you don't get immensely disappointed and suicidal about the last episode)
Naruto(yeah I know, not the best, but a good start
Bleach(again not the best, I only recommend watching up to the 3rd season, as it gets repetitive after that)

Ive not seen soul eater so i cannot comment on it but the three you mentioned are awful choices. Not because they are bad shows its just because they are way too long for newbie. Western themed shows such as cowboy bebop and baccano are good examples because not only are they brilliant they are really short as well

I suppose it depends on the person. I mentioned only to watch the first 3 seasons of bleach, which isn't to long. Fma brotherhood isn't overly long either if I remember. About naruto, yeah it's definitely long but I still think it's a good start for people.  

The first time I watched anime was as a kid when I was like 8-9 and it was called shaman king ( I'm not really sure if you can count it as an anime ) it used to air on a channel called jetix or so thing like that ) I really enjoyed this show but I never knew that it was a type of cartoon aka anime , later I discovered dragon ball and it all started falling into place after that ... Naruto , bleach , death note ,fairy tail , I only enjoyed fight anime until I watched infinite strata , the pet girl if sakurasou ,my little monster and some more !  

lol. My first watched anime was Doremon. I enjoyed watching Doremon until I moved to CA. After that, I lost interest in Doremon and found Naruto on CartoonNetwork and started watching. I continue on watching Naruto for a few years then I moved on to Bleach, after that, I moved to One Piece, then Fairy Tail. Then I went on google and searched for some good graphic anime and found a few good ones, then I kept on watching anime to now.  

i got this anime app with tons of free anime and i always heard about attack on the titans and i watched it, several flesh eating episode later i switched to an anime called golden time and now its my favorite. like 3 years ago i completed a series called 'girls im your father' and it was sorta sad. but yeah now i watch golden time and sao
