If you're going to spend $800, go with this instead: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks CPU: Intel Core i5-4430 3.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($174.99 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($49.99 @ Amazon) Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($59.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.99 @ NCIX US) Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card ($299.99 @ Amazon) Case: Xion XON-560 MicroATX Mini Tower Case ($39.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($44.99 @ Microcenter) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) ($84.99 @ NCIX US) Total: $814.92 (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.) (Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-11-13 18:37 EST-0500) For gaming purposes the i5 scores better or on par with AMD's FX-8350 (which generates twice as much heat, and uses more power). R280X is a 7970, which is a top tier card. The Nvidia equivalent is a GTX 770 / 680. |

Use pcpartpicker.com when putting together a rig. It is stupid easy to use.

I'm not gonna argue with fp4 though, he's far more experienced than me and knows what he's talking about much better. If he says something that is different than what I say, he's most likely right. |
