A Giant Light Orb could make a Decent night effect. Maybe timed. 6pm 80% light 7 pm 70% light and so on

That actually is kinda ingenious :0 all the staff would have to do is make scripts for events and npcs that are in synch with it!


Then again.... I'm not sure if the light orb works as most would expect on a large scale.  

This is kind of the problem when players complain about having new stuff added. They see the light orb for houses and they think "What's the problem? Why not just take that and make it work for the entire world!? It's so simple!" and that's not a solution at all. Making the world darker is the simplest part of this entire idea. Many players don't think about the amount of depth and such that would truly need to go into even a "simple" idea to make it decent.

I mean I'm not calling players out for it(at least not in this thread). But it's annoying when players start to get negative about an idea and get their answers from conclusions like that.

Well no duh. You'd have to script everything to work in unison with the light levels. Didn't I say that already?  

Do you know how hard scripting is 0___0  

Doesn't need to be dark, just full map pk zone xD

Nothing you really said actually reflects what would actually have to be done to have a true day/night system.

Like I said I don't blame players or hold it against them. Why would a player know(or need to) what would go into making something happen?

I think they were wanting a more complex, dynamic darkness. That's just a translucent overlay, but I don't see why they refuse to use that.

I highly doubt they would want a light switch as the day/night system if it were to be implemented.

That would be great! There would some thrill when it got dark :3 everyone would have to hide in houses not to die. And some people would love hard core Pking in the dark.
