It should increase chance of king crab.  

I dug 27 king crabs today and they were all taken by a mob of noobs  

Still no crab melee yet. Since 11:00 am today.  

How do you obtain the crab hat?  

Kill any king crab. Check your hat inventory because the game doesn't seem to message you if you get hat.

Oh no you don't.  

I digged 6 crab kings in my house, got stuff then it got patched :p
