I might have Pectus Excavatum?

I noticed that my chest is sunken and it's really bothering me, I told my parents about this, but for some reason they don't believe me. I had to show them my chest to prove it and they told me that my chest is sunken. I'm not sure if I should make an appointment because I think that's just how my chest is. I'm not posting any pics... All I'm saying is that my chest is sunken and I want to know if I have Pectus Excavatum. Please help me.

For the people who don't know what it is.

Hey, I have Pectus Excavatum, I would get it checked out just to be safe.

My parents didn't really think it was a big concern and neither did I but when we actually got it checked out we discovered problems with the heart and ribs that we wouldn't of realized until it was too late otherwise.

Better safe than sorry.

It's hard to tell if you have it without seeing it, but any deformation of the chest is definitely worth getting checked out.

I'm pretty sure I had Pectus Excavatum for a year now. I'm lucky it hasn't gotten worse, my parents will hopefully notice that it is an issue and I should get it checked. They sometimes worry for me because of this.

I'm not sure how old you are or what your current stage in growth is but usually the sunken chest will get deeper as you grow.

I know most people don't like it so if you want to get it fixed so your chest is normal it would be better to start now as the procedure is much easier for people who are still developing and what not.

Removing it at later stages requires a majority of your rib cage to be cut out.

Personally I love it, it's a cool thing to have.

Not one to do this sort of thing but I just would like to say it sounds like a spell from
harry potter.

You should get checked
Hope your fine

My friend has it, he's fine but as Colin said, get it checked out since it's the type of thing that varies from case to case. Best wishes.

Strongly suggest contacting medical support before these forums, we aren't really of any help. Maybe try calling a local help line or medical forums/subreddits.

Hope your parents start caring soon. Looks painful.

Yeah I think I have that too. But my doctor said it would fix as I grow lol who knows

I probably won't ask my doctor about it again until I'm 18 and not living with my mom

You'll find out in a few years... I think it's cool having it because it makes you different from others. Being different isn't bad.

It starts to get painful once it's actually sunken because exercise becomes difficult.
