Never heard of anyone eating raisins on a diet...

Honestly don't see the benifits of eating raisins, might as well eat normal, undried fruit.

Sounds like someones on a bulking diet.
If you don't like raisins, don't eat raisins.
Just eat heaps of chicken, pasta, bread and ceaser salads. They all pack on the carbs, and then have a meal replacement shake/snack inbetween your 3 main meals.
Also drink alot of milk

You would be correct. I usually have 4 peanutbutter/banana/honey sandwichs for lunch so bread is already a part of my diet, and If I am at home I throw in some milk (I drink a ton of milk anyway).

Raisins have 70g of carbs per 1/2 cup. Thats about 10 - 30 g more compared to some other fruits.

But really, the biggest factors are how often you eat, and how much. Potatoes are really good for that too.

I have 4 meals a day. I wanted to do raisins because I already feel like I eat too much meal wise, and wanted more in between.

Just to clarify, I'm not having trouble with my bulk, I am gaining just fine, I just think it would be good to have more carbs in my diet, and raisins look like the best option when it comes to snack food.

5hift 05-02-2015 03:33 PM

But eating regular fruit is much more refreshing than eating dried rabbit poop.

Pasta, Potatoes, and Peanut Butter would probably be your best bet.

Eating them for carbs? Not the greatest source of carbs.

If you want to gain, lift heavy weights.

A good diet has to be part of that or your body will have very little to use.

Yeah but it doesn't have to be some crazy planned out diet. Lift heavy and you will get more hungry. Eat when you're hungry. It's as simple as that

idk if you just didn't see the rest of my post, but snack foods. I already eat peanut butter and pasta or potatoes is almost a meal. I'm looking for stuff to eat as a quick snack at work or on the bus.

The only workouts that make me hungry are cardio, I don't think I have ever gotten hungry from strength training, but I always have a protein shake and lunchables after I lift so I guess I wouldn't know.

You can lift until your arms fall off but you will make barely any progress if you don't pack on carbs and eat nonstop. There is a reason why body builders/heavy weight lifters who already have huge muscles still eat 6 meals a day when they are training. If it was as simple as just lifting heavier weights they wouldn't do that

If you're not hungry after it's probably because you weren't really strength training. Lol! Also, protein shakes are a waste of money.

I just did a chest workout, no cardio and I'm starving. But I'm benching 315lbs so I'm burning a lot more calories. Honestly it's all about calories in vs calories out, it's simple.

You literally argue with the dumbest things on every thread.

Stop trying to give people lessons on weight lifting and criticising their choice of diet they've all done their research and know what to do and what not to do,

Anyways, not sure if you have it where you live but there's a cereal here called Raisin Brand which already mixes raisins in the cereal which might help you out if you ever want to have a quick bowl or so to snack on.

Looking at it as calories in calories out is a pretty basic way of thinking about it. Not going to go into it myself because I'll bonk up the explanation, so I'll link you a website that does a better job explaining it.

This whole 6 meal thing is not true.. You don't know what you're talking about. You probably heard that on a commercial watching the lifetime channel. Then came here and regurgitated it. Why 6? Why not 7 or 8 or 4. It's all about calories in vs calories out. I could eat 1 meal a day and still gain weight if I wanted.

Look up Hugh Jackman diet. This guy would do a 16 hour fast everyday and still gained weight.

Okay, so you actually have no idea what you are talking about, get out of my thread lol.

Yeah that sites pretty much true. But I don't think the average person needs to be concerned to much with all that because I'm pretty sure they're not training that hard to where they have to pay attention to recovery time.

Me personally I do a blend of creatine and glutamine. Then I eat veggies and protein, and get more results then most people in the gym. But I'm not counting calories all day. I just listen to the body and eat when I'm hungry.
