How do you make gif GFX?

I'm kind of new to making GFX. I still haven't made one yet, however I am extremely interested in making GFX heads for personal use on Era.

Anyway, I know that .png is a basic graphic type that is straight forward. .gif seems to be different and I have questions. What template do you use for gif? I simply need to know more about it! Any instructional material would be cool too for basic GFX. Thanks!

well..gif is an animated image so you make it by making many layers and changing them...hopefully somebody would post a thread link to a tutorial

How to make a .GIF
Firstly, you'll need an image animation program. I prefer GIMP.
Gimp For Windows
Gimp For Macintosh
1. Creating multiple layers or slides
Since an animated GIF is just different slides put together, you first need to create them. Go into Microsoft paint or whatever program you use and create a new document. Just create something basic like a dot. Save this as a .png and create another document (same size as last) and place a dot, just a little moved over. Keep doing this for about 5 slides or something.
2. Next open GIMP.
First thing to do is hit control+L which brings up layers. Open where you saved the circles, and drag and drop each one into the layers thing. Make sure they're in order or else it won't work correctly. Go to window>animation>playback.
Hit play and it will show the circles moving.
3. Important stuff about gimp
How to save
Go to save as. Open it and type in YOURFILENAMEHERE.gif gimp will automatically save it as a gif when you type in .gif.
How to set a transparency
Use the wand brush tool, click on the white, and hit control+x. It will delete the white and leave transparent.

.png is actually quite advanced, but since you're saving both as 8bit for graal there isn't much of a difference aside from .gif supporting animation. .gif is nice though since it's limited to 8bit thus you don't need to fool around with the bit settings when you save it.

Another format which is seldom used since it's basically an old .png with animation support is .mng. I wouldn't worry about it though.

Follow his site to the .gif image tutorials. Download what he tells you (they are safe, I checked). Basically it's like a post-it-note animation. Just edit one image, save it, edit it, save it. Then when you are ready, insert them into the .gif maker and it will create a .gif image out of them. (Make sure to save all original editted files as .gif and not .png). This site is the quickest and easiest to understand in my opinion
