Here is my unbiased review as a year 1 destiny player who stopped when the DLCs cost the same as the game. The story is good, not amazing but it's enjoyable to play through. The PvE aspect of the game is also good and much improved from destiny 1 with a lot more activities to do that don't feel as 'grindy'. Loot is much more common now aswell. Loot wise, it's early to say since raids aren't out but the exotic items which in destiny 1 were the be all end all item that you wanted to collect, that were really rare are SO common now. You literally get 2-3 exotic items just from the campaign, triple that if you make alt accounts and trade the items to your main. In 2 days i've gotten a total of about 8-9 exotics and to put that in comparison I don't think I had an exotic in destiny 1 until 3 weeks- a month of playing. Maybe even more. They don't feel valueable, and imo aren't that interesting lookwise compared to original destiny. I want the destiny 1 exotics that have been ported into destiny 2 that i've already used in destiny 1 more than any of the new exotics in destiny 2. And this is my personal view but I think the armour doesn't look that great, especially the shoulders (for titans) and helmets. They are clearly all based off of medieval knights rather than the halo spartans that some of the armours were similar to in destiny 1. PvP aspect I just played and I honestly think it's horrible. I really liked destiny 1's pvp but D2's just sucks. Movement is so slow and the variety of guns is so limited since shotguns/ snipers were moved into the special category that only 1 person every minute or so can use until they die. It's really just whoever aims first wins. I mean I got a 3.6 k'd in the first pvp match I ever played and I didn't feel like it was rewarding at all/ felt like I even played well. No skill base whatsoever. As for the main content of the game it's maybe a bit too familiar. The subclasses are basically the same, the armour/ weapons looks the same in some cases so a lot of the time spent in D1 learning the mechanics doesn't really exist. If you've never played Destiny 1 though you will have a lot of things to discover/ tryout. Cosmetics such as the good looking shaders being microtransations when they were free in destiny 1 is also something that has really annoyed me with this game. Hard to think of how to recommend this game, on one hand it isn't worth the price but the thing with how the progression works in destiny, if you wait 6months- 1 year for the sale by then all the content people are working through now will no longer be relevant and you'll be doing it by yourself. 7/10- 8.5/10 if you've never played destiny before |

The game looks nice and I'm sure the gameplay is enjoyable enough for it to be worth getting Other than that I don't really find anything special about it |

The whole idea behind armor shaders being consumables is just mind-boggling to me. Like how ****ing desperate is Activision to make ****ing cosmetics a pain in the ass to grind for. Also its hilarious seeing the Destiny fanboys try to defend this sort of scummy practice. Look at literally any other RPG *COUGH* Warframe *COUGH*. They got shaders that do require a premium currency (which you can earn in-game without spending money) and AREN'T ONE USE ONLY. Gameplay wise, pretty much nothing has changed from the original Destiny besides a couple new abilites, weapon types and some other redundant ****. Also looks like bosses are still just as bullet-spongy but if you at least get good loot from them, then I guess thats a plus. PVP was also one of my favorite things about Destiny 1 but the inclusion of new weapon types just totally ****s with the balance. Like what ever are the point of ARs when SMGs will outclass them at pretty much any range? Also why **** are snipers a heavy weapon type?? Like I bet 90% of the playerbase can't snipe for **** so why make it even harder to snipe? I can get easy weapons like shotguns and fusion rifles being heavy but sniper rifles actually take some level of skill to use. Activision and Bungie has been very quiet about the DLC lineup as well which is pretty sketchy seeing how they pretty much ****ed over everyone who just bought the vanilla game back in Destiny 1. I guess the only decent thing I can say about this game is that its now on PC. But that doesn't matter to me at all because I'm ****in done with Activision and Bungie. |

I liked the beta but after seeing all the complaints about D2 I don't know if I'll get it. DLC is my biggest gripe since I'm not going to pay $120 to get a full game and I mostly want it for the FPS experience and to be my new main game since I'm done with Battlefield 1's bull****. I planned on getting it around Black Friday so I'll just have to wait & see how good the sales are vs the state of the game at that point.

I've been playing it a lot and it's pretty freakin good, hunter feels really weak compared to other classes though. Dodge is nearly uselss because most the weapons I use with hunter reload animations are quicker than the dodge animations. The only good dodge is with the void hunter and getting invisiblity after a roll.

The most painful/cringy thing about this is how the community is defending microtransactions for a fully priced triple A game. They're talking like its an improvement. A ****ing improvement. |

In a full 60$ game? I don't think so. It just shows that Activision is doing whatever they can to milk every penny out of this godforsaken franchise. What happened to when players who wanted to further support the devs just bought t-shirts and figurines and not a bunch a random digital **** they'll probably forget about in a couple years? |

Microtransactions are gonna be here to stay. That's the sad reality of gaming in this day and age but it's making companies money. I have no issue with them if they're purely cosemtic only like OW but it's a problem in COD/Destiny when these MT's include game changing stuff like new guns in COD only in supply drops or things such as the paid consumables in D2. At least make it cosemtics only but then again, this is today's industry. Even Shadow of War has microtransactions that actually makes the game easier. Yeah they give that BS excuse that you can grind in game but they purposely make the grind hard just for you to buy.

I don't have Destiny 2 though so I don't know what their micro-transactions are actually for.

Little update on the PVP aspect of the game. Probably one of the worst games for pvp I have EVER played. I have not enjoyed a single game I have played, I only continue to play it because i'm forced to for the weekly tasks. If you play by yourself you will go negative. The game is 4v4 and the maps are mostly small. Because it LITERALLY takes up to 5 seconds of ONLY hitting headshots to kill someone it means everybody in the game just walks around in a conga line and teamshots you to death in 1 second whilst you can't even take the shields off a single person in that group. The game promotes camping lanes, huddling together in a big group and camping the special weapons. To put it into perspective imagine a COD game that was 4v4 on rust, you all walk/ sprint extremely slow, you guns take 10x longer to kill anybody and everybody just did circles around the map grouped with their team. It is **** compared to destiny 1, and if the PVE aspect of the game wasn't as good as it was I would have never bought it. |

Yeah, Crucible is a big disappointment in Destiny 2. Call me crazy, but I loved the 6v6 in Destiny 1. It just don't feel as good being 4v4. They honestly should have made a 4v4 mode and kept the 6v6 as the original. Trials would be 3v3 but now that's going 4v4 as well. And don't get me started on making Shotguns/Snipers power weapons..
