So I got bored of my PS4 because currently I only have 3 games for it and no Playstation Plus, so I turned on my good old PS3 and popped in my friend GTA V disk in it(my friend gave it to me a week ago and this was the first time i was going to be playing gta v)
I played the game and it says i need to update, after 13 updates there were like 7 more and this one in particular was 1314 mb or 1.3 gb, i tried downloading it but since my internet is crappy i would always get an error, this happened for 3 days until finally i gave up, turned off my wifi and launched the game...so rn my GTA V is installing something and I've got a question, will I still be able to play the game normally without updating to the newest version? And if so what are the major changes that I might miss out when not updating?

if it's downloading any files (updates) then it need internet  

But I seem to be playing it just fine rn is there any point in the game where I have to install updates? And can i save my progress offline?

I think you may be able to play single player if you dont do the updates, but if you go to GTA online you will probably have to download all the updates  

Cool! Did they add anything major with in he single player campaign if so what is it?

Nope. They ended up never adding any single player DLC, its a shame. Some stuff from Online was put in single player though  

There's like a couple vehicles that were added to single player since they were added to online but that's about it. You won't miss out on anything if you don't update it.
