Got a sword here, which isn't getting accepted. The response in return is "no flashing or color changing graphics"

It's at 120 milliseconds per frame right now... is there a minimum requirement?

It got cleared... but after multiple rejections and, in the end, help from Milo. Interestingly, there are many swords still available in game that have much faster animations.

There are also plenty of shields that would never be accepted today. One is some green and black shield. I can't remember the code exactly, but it flashes incredibly fast.

In most cases, they're default files and we can't remove them.

That actually wasn't the one I was thinking of, but it is exactly what I'm talking about as far as things that wouldn't fly under the current system.

The one I'm talking about was smaller and striped.

I would love to know if it's like this - the answer I got was that it should be '5 or so frames' at a time, which made no sense to me, as it's just not how a gif works. I could have 3 frames and increase or decrease the animation speed infinitesimally.

The more frames you have, the more smooth it will be

When we say "frames" we mean what Graal reads as a frame, which is based on the animation's length.

Generally for swords transitions won't matter ( in your case, you will almost never see more than one of the frames in a given attack) but when it comes to changing colors in shields for example you will want to transition into the new color in a way that makes it appear smooth.  

So shouldn't it be a good thing to have flashing colors so that you can actually see the different colors in the slashing gani  

But is there a specific minimum millisecond count per 'frame' ??

I always wondered as well. I've gone as fast as 50ms (a blinking gif head) and not had a problem. Is there a max file size for animations? I'm starting to see more complex gifs and wonder what the upper limit is?
