How to win the GST
FORMING YOUR TEAM What you will need is obviously 5-7 people. There are 5 key roles, and each teammate needs to play their role. Tank The tank will be going around the arena, luring it's opponents into his teammates swords. The tank must be someone who can keep their hp for as long as possible. With a tank, your team has a huge chance of winning by having more hp when time runs out. Assassin The assassin's main role is to go around the map sniping it's opponents. They will help you trap players, sneak hits into enemies while their teammate is distracting them, and they get a lot of hits and disappear afterwards to keep their hp up. They don't 1v1, except they focus on taking out the best player first on the enemy team. Leader The leader should be someone who obviously owns the guild, but also is very active, helps his team stay focused, and create strategies against each team. The leader should try to stay alive as much as possible, even if it means running away. Staying alive boosts the teams morale. Clutcher The clutcher is the one who is able to pull off amazing comebacks even when their team is at a huge disadvantage, the clutcher is expected to think clearly and not fall into pressure, for they have to be super careful in order to get that huge comeback. Well-Rounded The well-rounded player will be able to do any role that the others can, maybe not as good, but just enough for their team not to fall apart in case one of them dies early. If you have 2 subs, make sure one of them is well-rounded, and the other one can go as the assassin. STRATEGIES Planning Make sure you know which team you are facing, before they surprise you with some delay + lag attacks. Check their flags if you have no idea who your opponents are. Talk to one another and check who will be going for who, which one is better against who, and who will be getting double-teamed. Don't Rush The worst thing you can do is rush into enemy hits, or try to get as many hits as you can. Don't do this, unless your whole team is doing this. If you will rush, make sure your opponent is not paying attention, otherwise you will just end up getting comboed and possibly trapped. Corners Don't let the enemy push you into a corner, if you are trapped you will start body-blocking each other due to having less space to move around. If you are trapped, just blink your way out if you can, and trap your opponents if possible. Pushing Start by making a vertical wall, spam and keep the pressure on your opponents. Once in a while go through them and come back without getting hit. That will make them try to team you, and break their will (if they had one). Afterwards, when they are up against the wall, push them into the corner. If one of them tried to run away, don't send the whole team after him (make sure you know who will go for the runners, plan ahead). Queue First team to queue first gets the left side advantage. Gear Tank Gear Tanks should have a huge sword, since they are the best for pressuring, my personal preference is the baddy_sword. Assassin Gear Make sure you don't use bright colors, the less noticeable you are the better. You don't want to be wearing super bright neon colors to shout, "Over here guys". Also, use a swords with less animation, short swords/stab swords. Leader Gear Doesn't matter what you wear, as long as you stay alive as long as you can. Normal swords are the good enough for any situation. Clutcher Gear Big swords and stab swords are good. Big swords are for pressuring if you feel more comfortable setting a boundary between you and your opponents, and short swords are for when you are better just getting quick hits, and run away, come back, and repeat until you clutch. Well-Rounded Gear Preferably any normal sword, for all types of scenarios. Morale Don't get mad or frustrated when you lose a round, anger will just result in you doing worse than the last round. If you do get mad, ask a host for a 2 minute break. Get up, walk around for a bit, take a few breaths, then come back, and own. Don't blame your teammates for doing bad, talk to one another and work on what the best method to win is. If you are facing a team that is known for being good, don't say/think, "We lost". That just puts everyone on your team down. Say/think, "We can do this, I believe in you guys." Have Fun Remember that it's a game. Win or lose, this won't affect you nor pay your rent. If you lost, smile, because you gained more knowledge, and you were at least able to participate. A lot of people didn't even get a team, because of x reasons. good luck, and have fun. Make some good memories.

I'd rather lose a gst with friends instead of winning with strangers, but losing 1000 times would be a real hit to my ego.

who cares about doing the gst with your "friends" we're on graal, they're all temporary. would rather wait 3 months and then win gst with people i don't even like than waste 3 months and place 5th just because "i want to do gst with my friends", people we're all just going to ditch eventually.

The "only GST with friends" thing is kinda meh to me, I've learned that many people on iClassic are incredibly bipolar and unpredictable so it's not worth putting yourself through I do think you should at least build your team around people who are level-headed, mature, and honest, but that's kind of obvious I didn't really know Dante or MK at all before adding them to Alumni and I didn't like Eko much, but I recognized that they were pretty good and didn't seem to cause much drama and had histories of sticking with guilds I'm not super close with anyone in the guild, maybe just David, but it still feels good to surround yourself and win with people who aren't sketchballs Mutual respect and friendship comes from winning together, so I guess winning helps you win more? |

Oh yeah, but the two options are pretty much clear, or at least they should be... 1 is you don't mind being with mean people, as long as you win the tourney. 2 is you don't mind losing, as long as you did the tourney with friends/people who aren't mean. |
