Later this month Runescape is releasing a new account option upon creation called ironman.

Ironman sets it so a player can no longer make player trades in any way (shops are instanced) and makes some gameplay aspects harder so basically making it so a player has to obtain everything on their own.

Hard core Ironman sets it so when you die your account is permanently deleted.

When they release this I will be creating a hard core character and racing to 99 for the hiscore lobby, is anyone else interested in this? Although you can't trade you can still communicate with other players (the servers are the same) so we can get a clan going.

This applies to both EoC and Oldschool.

This sounds neat! So, if I read your post correctly, you make a new (had to bold.. haha) account? Like everything new? Then work your way up? If so then I might get back into Runescape when I get back into the states.

Yeah you are required to make a new account, right now I am creating the timeline I'll be following in order to obtain the quest cape on hard core.

It is the same server and worlds ironman players are still going to play along side normal players.

It's a challenge mode, and from what I understand, is optional. It's not taking anything away from anyone, its adding a new feature for anyone interested which is not a bad thing for a game to do.

Only thing iron players get different is an icon beside their name to indicate they are using that mode, this isn't something people do for a reward it's something they do for a challenge because they enjoy it.

I've gotten multiple 99's on Runescape but it felt plain achieving them now that there is an option where death is permanent achieving a 99 will be much more satisfactory

I played for a few hours, most people are rushing to be the first to achieve things which is dumb, if you're on hard core and rush through chances are you'll probably die eventually.

I'm taking it slow so end-game I can achieve the Grim Reaper title.

Looks like a hard core ironman player has the 5 year vet cape, he made his account a long time ago but never progressed past the character creation menu meaning he was able to choose ironman mode on it.
