Nintendo to release "NFC" figures
http://www.siliconera.com/2014/05/07...nteract-games/ Well this is certainly... Interesting. At least they're making use of the Wii U controller's built in sensor thing meant for these things finally. I actually don't have a Wii U, but it looks like they're coming out with a peripheral for the 3DS as well. |

What I'm trying to say is people don't want soulless cash grab clones of games, people want new and innovative experiences. Even if it does end up costing a ton, it's still better to do something new. "It's better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation." -Herman Melville Even if it wasn't the first of it's kind, there was still something about the game that set it apart from everything else. |

Pokemon was an iteration of the JRPG genre. Obviously it had something different, but like most games it took an established idea, and modified it slightly. That's exactly what it seems Nintendo is doing with this figurines.

Who says they can't? We haven't even seen anything about the figures or the games that will go along with them and you're already doubting them when we have nothing to go on besides the fact that its Nintendo doing it, which is apparently enough for you to assume this is " ******ed on so many levels" and will probably fail. |

With a lot of the news I've been hearing about Nintendo lately, I am a bit worried about how they're doing. But I don't think this is necessarily a waste of their resources. I mean, the company itself started out selling hanafuda cards, of all things. They've made lots of money in the past selling collectibles along with their games, and the main difference with these is that they can also be used with the Wii U. It hasn't been selling as well as projected, and the company needs new ways to boost sales. |
