In games such as Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon there are dates which are dedicated to (often) very local or game-centric festivals. Examples of holidays that you don't really do much in include:
- Beach Festival - All of the characters are in swim-wear at the coast. Often has a few shacks with things that you'd buy at a beach like ice cream.
- Chicken Festival - This is very Harvest Moon-specific but it's another example of NPC's coming together in town to celebrate something. In this case, they pick the best chicken or something based on your in-game chicken rating.
- Starry Night Festival - Characters get together and watch the sun fall. I think this is akin to New Years.
- Explorers Day - Town-wide celebration. You talk to an NPC for a boat or something.
I have always enjoyed these special days when I've played such games. It's nice seeing things decorated and adds to the roleplaying. That is my personal take on it, but it feels like Graal servers don't feel comfortable with making such an offering. Is it really that bad to do events without giving tons of hats, selling furniture or an item? I am asking you, the players, because personally I'd like to see more character and depth to the game(s).
