So the Coalition (comparable with the Republican Party) has just won the Australian election. Currently they have won 85 seats of a 76 needed to win (live updates here). Australia can say goodbye to a National Broadband Network, school bonuses, a half-decent (lol) asylum seeker relocation problem, GAY MARRIAGE, good economic management, a carbon tax (to save the ****ing planet) amongst other things. For you non-Australians, this means Tony Abbott is now the Prime Minister of Australia. If you don't know who this is, watch the video below about him, and then feel free to make a decision on how bad the election result is. Basically, Mitt Romney won. |

Wow, shame... he kinda sounds like a cross between two of our (America's) politicians, Mitt Romney and Anthony Weiner. I'm kinda appalled that what he's done is allowed to go on in upper government though. Does Australia have any form of impeachment that can be put to use with his actions or acts of omission??

He hasn't really done anything wrong, except from a moral standpoint, so no. Hopefully he won't control both houses of parliament. |

![]() In all seriousness, I don't know much about Abbott, but if he is Australia's Mitt Romney, I hope the best for you all. |

I, for one, am so glad. Look at what Kevin Rudd did to australia, the carbon tax was rubbish, it just caused inflation. We are so much in debt thanks to ruddy.

Australia will never have a good asylum seeker policy. I'm of the opinion that no matter how good or bad somebody's policies are, they should not be allowed to win a position of power if they're a horrible misogynist bigot. That said, I do prefer Labor's policies to the Coalition. |
