My family has had 8 cats and 4 dogs in the past. Now we have 1 cat and 2 dogs. From my experience heres the pros cons for each. Dogs: Pros- loyal, always want to cuddle some always want to play, protective (if an intruder comes into your house a dog will bark or even attack, cat will do nothing), Can lesrn tricks, poop outdoors Cons: barking can be annoying, cleaning up poop outside and constant walks can be tiring, requires attention, puppies will chew on stuff Cats: Pros: low maintenance animal (1-2 per household) litter box clean once every other day if you have 1 cat, doesnt require constant attention, Cons: shedding everywhere, litter box can stink and get messy in the area its in, not as playful or loyal as dogs, sharp claws can scratch you Overall I feel like the personal bond with your pet is stronger with a dog naturslly with them being more loyal and affectionate than cats. Cats are nice though because theyre not always begging you for attention, they do just fine on their own and dont need a "friend" to keep them happy, they like to think your entire house is theirs. It depends on your lifestyle, I think dogs are a bigger responsibility and commitment than cats. Every dog/cat is different though, these are just my generalizations. |

Well with a dog yes they're more interactive, but they need a lot of attention and exercise. But with a cat you can have them sit on your lap all day xD I have both a dog and a cat, I love em both, so it's your choice! |

Cats are largely independent which can be good or bad. But they sometimes go to someone elses house to live there.
