Online server map!!!
These are so cool, and I figured it would be nice to see one uploaded for our server as well. a few examples: http://minecraftonline.com/map/#/-10...81/-1/mcmapDay http://map.meincraft.eu/#/12870/64/1.../mcmapLighting Basically it takes a snapshot of your server and compiles large image files, which are then uploaded to a custom google maps interface. Apparently those are very easy to set up. The only thing that might be harder to do is have live updates of players on the server, which they do on the Meincraft.eu server. Here some images of what they look like incase the links aren't working. ![]()

Yeah theres a few like that, like dynmap. But I found it became spoiling over time, not to mention it would spot NPC villages, hidden creations, and in some versions of the dynmap, show where every player is hiding even if they don't want to be seen. Edit: Plus it can also work as a playercount buster- people would rather check the map than ingame to see if a friend is on- so they would never log in game (which would have attracted someone to stay longer than 30 sec) |

It wouldnt be able to show the entire map. It would only show the currently generated chunks, so any npc village you see has already been considered. I doubt anyone would use the map to find hidden places because they are so far away.

it would just be cool to see the server grow over time from high up.

Chunks get generated within a range of the player, so the NPC-Village would indeed have had to be in range of someone roaming around, but the one looking at the map could have never been arsed to look for one. (But really, who cares bout the villages)
