Tips on staying in shape
So part of my News Years resolution was to gain weight because I am morbidly skinny. I'm weighing in at about 120 lbs and I'm 6'1, so by standards: that's terrible. As we all know, muscle weighs more than fat and last year I've been going to the gym for about 2-4 times each week. Over summertime, everyday basically. Here's where my dilemma comes in. Because my mom is a genius, she canceled my gym membership to save money AND got rid of the treadmill I was planning on using in the basement because she wanted to get a brand new one with all those new fancy features. Those treadmills aren't cheap. She cancelled my gym membership for 3 months which was like about $150 per month for 3 months so that's about $450. And wants to get a brand new treadmill for like, what? $1000. That sure ain't Hell going to help you save money. It's less for more if you ask me since I could've just used one of those brand new treadmills at the gym I was going to already plus all the other equipment. Nevertheless, as of now I am treadmilless, gymless, I am fit as of now but the question is "How long?". How long will that last? So what I'm looking for is just some tips to stay in shape and maintain my 'figure' I guess, so when I go back after 3 months I won't be a total ***** and have to start fresh again. By tips I don't want to hear crap like "U SHUD DO SUM PUSHUPS!!!1!1!!!!" I mean like real, simple exercises that will target different muscle groups. What I do have to work with right now is a pull up/chin up bar, some kettle weights. I also have a bench press but I'm not going to use that too much unless I have a spotter. TL;DR My mom is an idiot sometimes so help me stay in shape by giving me some excerise tips and some new excerises to try with what little I have. (Pull up/Chin up bar + Kettleweights which is about it) |

I've been doing these for a year now and I'd consider myself 'fit' just don't over do things. Set a reasonable goal and you'll be content with what you have gained |

Push ups and sit ups will only maintain muscle, you won't see any significant building in a reasonable amount of time. Lifting is the fastest way but you don't have weights. I would invest in a resistance band/stretch band that simulates lifting weight and do exercises with that. They're like 5-15 dollars max

1. Use your pullup bar as a V. For ex, do a chinup then make a v as long as you can. 2. When watching tv, lay down, lift legs up a little and lift your head up a little too. 3. Clapping push ups |

If anything, you wanna stay off the treadmill and focus all your exercise time on lifting weights/resistance band. You probably know this, but running is cardio and will only tone you up, not build muscle. Yes you will be toned, but you will stay a skinny guy and not gain much weight at all. ![]() Its awesome you have a pull up bar because chin ups/overhand pull ups are amazing for your back, so that is covered. When you do work your back, be sure to switch it up between each back session to avoid it becoming monotonous. Are you able to take off the weights on your bench press bar? You could treat the individual weights as dumbbells and come up with a whole routine just using these dumbbells. A 3 day split or a full body workout, its up to you. If these weights arent detachable, I strongly advise that you invest in a set of dumbbells. I have no knowledge of kettle weights, never used them, sorry. What you could do for those is google a kettlebell workout routine and find one that works for you. And lastly, the most important tip and most obvious one for that matter to gain weight, is to EAT! EAT EAT EAT EAT EAT! Dont make yourself sick eating, but be sure to not skip meals, and have snacks in between. If you can, invest in protein shakes, you will gain fast. If you dont gain atleast a pound of weight after the first month, your not eating enough. Sorry for the long read, you probably know most of this, im a skinny guy also currently gaining weight. When I started, I was roughly 6'2 135lb, and hated how people said they couldnt see me because I was a stick or so lanky, now im 6'3 165lb. Im still lanky, but people have noticed im filling out, and trust me, its a great feeling to be told that. ![]() Sorry for the waffling, and best of luck to your goals. ![]() EDIT: oh and yeah, V Pullups are spreading your arms out to a V shape and pulling yourself up.

Creatine supplements can help too but I'm not sure if you're into those types of things

Don't listen to any of these guys and forget everything that has been said above me. Forget upper body training, seriously, that is so last season. Instead, train only your legs. Wake up, train legs. Finally home from scool, train legs. Watch tv, train legs, you get the point. In a few years you'll look like a ****ing t-rex with your massive legs and slim upper body. Bitches love t-rex's. Just look at that ****ing bastard, probably gets more ***** than Charlie Sheen. |

You don't need money to stay in shape, just put on some shoes and jog for an hour every other day.

Even if your skinny you need to do cardio, but do alot of pushups, situps, and pullups. To buildup a gym and access to weights would be the best option but you would be suprised that you can make your own workout with everyday things.
