DnD
Hey guys I have heard a lot about DnD lately and I have done a bit of research, does anyone here have experience or has anyone tried it before? If so can you tell me if you enjoyed it and why? Thanks, it sounds fun, I just wanted some more info on the subject.

Dice and books. A polyhedraldice set can go for 10$, and the books might be 100$ new.

I assist in running a group of 6 to 9 players and I have over 3 years of DMing experience so here is my two cents. In my prospective out of the 4 campaigns that I have done before that it is very fun/funny (in my group, we get a good laugh out of some of the situations) and at times it is very serious. Supply wise, the DM's need a copy of the player's handbook, Monster Manuel, and Dm's Handbook which is the most expencive. If you guys want to see a basic 10 page quick-setup and explanation of the rules, go to Here. Another thing I would like to point out for a group, I got a d20 for each member of the campaign who didn't have dice (Its a school group full of middle schoolers) and then I had a pile of d6, d8, ect.. in the middle of the table which only cost me about $5 dollars max because I bought from a non-uniform set which stores set as a higher price if you want a fancy set of dice. (my point is that dice are not always expensive depending on how you buy them) and before that, one of the players wrote an applescript application for emulating a dice roll. The only things I dislike about D&D is when it is time for setting up your character sheet (i normally think of random stats for NPCs). For a group of 6, and with 2 DMs helping players to set up characters it took us 2.5 hours to get everyone setup, and I expect to be spending about 1.5 hours of my free time/scripting time to setup 3 more characters to join the campaign. My point here which is that D&D takes abit of time to setup and plan it can paperwork (character sheets, spell sheets) heavy (If you want to do a quickstart campaign, look at the link I gave earlier for possible character stats). Now, after reading my paragraphs of text a lot of you younger people are probity thinking that D&D is nothing but trouble, but you are most likely going to be doing a 1:1 (1 player to 1 DM) campaign with a friend which is alot easer, the time is more than cut in half and the person acting DM could make up a storyline on the fly. I personally look forward to my D&D sessions because our players enjoy the campaign and D&D in general. |

Shurikan, remember one thing when you play DnD. You don't need to go exactly by the book. Just google "Dungeons and dragons home brew" and you can find things ranging from alternate rules to completely new races and classes. But there are, however, pieces of home brew meant to be a joke and don't exactly keep balance, or even have relevance for that matter.
