I heard this season they're going to have a lot more action though.

They're building character development. I know the show is about zombies but if the entire series was just about running around killing zombies after zombies then it would get boring fast. It is a bit slow but I still enjoyed the character exploration.

Yeah, but look at any show that relied on anticipation through slow episodes and mass character development. Almost all of them got no where. V? Gone. Flash forward? Gone. Lost was a lucky one, but it relied on answering questions, which was its secret sauce that kept it going for 6 years. The walking dead doesn't have that element to the scale of lost. Neither does Terra Nova. Both of these are going to die because of the same generic sci fi drama anticipation factor (which gets shows no where in the long run) that we have seen dozens of times. Honestly, television shows need to rethink their structure. They need to stop dragging things out excessively just to get more seasons. They need to treat their shows more like art, and stop dragging their painting out and making viewers wait out of anticipation for what the final product will be. With this structure the painting is almost never finished, and the show is cancelled because they dont want to finish the story line and end the show. If they treat it like art, and make a quality painting with shows that last 1 run seasons (or more, depending on the show) that keep the story flowing without trying to avoid ending it, people will get the satisfaction of seeing the complete painting, and admire the directors for what they have completed. This strategy will boost their name, and they will be able to move on to more creative exploits, and create more 'paintings' without having people being disappointed that they never got to see the finished product. |

There's really no way to win because executives are the ones calling the shots and they don't give a **** about the actual show. |
