The vast majority of the time, it feels like english dubs don't portray the character as well as the the original Japanese VA does. You can't really expect much when companies porting an anime to america have to dub dozens of anime a year, and do most of it in house. In Japan, anime is a lot larger, and they hire professional VAs that specialize in certain types of characters.
