I'm not sure why it was ever closed. Devs fixed boosting by prohibiting kills in areas where the player count was high. They could have simply introduced that same idea into CTF if boosting was an issue. If there was a glitch, it may have been exploited like 4-Lom said.
Someone needs to explain to me how CTF was. I haven't been around that long. Was it like what others have been doing in their homes with the vases and respawn thing from castle?

If i remember correctly it cost 10 gralats to enter, and you would be brought into a pretty decently sized area full of trees, a river, some ridges and other stuff. at the top of the screen i think there was like a display of the score that would pop up when you entered, and when you entered it would change your slot colors to the color of ur team. (it was red vs blue if i remember).
As for respawners and vases, its somewhat similar. It was an actually scripted version though, so rather then holding a vase you'd actually have a flag and you could lose it and whatnot. For respawning, once you died you respawned somewhere yeah. But obviously the quality was higher then the stuff in ppls houses just cause there were actual scripts for it
