an idiot's guide to treasure hunting
Okay, after my semi-sarcastic guide on how to kill the King Slime (or Betty Bloop, idfk), I thought it would be nice to make a guide on how to find treasure maps on Classic.
requirements
Before we start, you need a couple of things:
- identification by email
- map bag (can be found at the owl's nest in destiny)
- a shovel
- some photographic memory
- this guide
Now we can begin with the first step on treasure map hunting:
how to get the maps
Getting treasure maps around classic can be achieved through many methods. A common method for getting these goodies is by killing Bandits or Pyrats, either one is fine. Other ways to get these are by searching in purple chests, going for underwater loot, or digging up the soil with a shovel. Once these maps are obtained, head to Destiny and enter the second building to the right. There, you will find Mercator, who will gladly decipher the first map for free, while the others go up the scale in cash (25g, then 50g, then 100g and so on. However, this resets daily.)
finding your prized booty
When you get your deciphered map, it will show a map number and a small picture of where it is. To figure out the location, pay close attention to these things:
- If you see a neat stone path, follow along the paths until you see a key feature.
- If it's white, then it's automatically in Snow Town. (this also includes pine trees and penguins)
- If there are Chinese lanterns, then it's near Master Li's Dojo.
- If there are shaded trees, then it's in Destiny.
- If it's on a cliff, then check the mountains near Snow Town and Onnet Town
- If it's near a water source, then check near the riversides.
- If it's dirt, check the cliffs.
- If it's in space, then you ate some of Unimax's bread.
You'll also have to look at the precise tiles, as that is another major thing as well. You'll know automatically where it is if there's a landmark involved.
magical trinkets earned
When you score your treasure chest, you'll get one of the following:
- a miner's hat
- one of the couple of fossil hats
- a traveler's hat (8 different colors)
- a mushroom hat (8 different flavors)
- a gold gralat
- a rare loot item
- a pet rock (it's rock hard)
- a mushroom pet
- some treasure chest furnature
- a treasure chest hat
- a morph (chest, golem)
- a rock juggle
- a gem skull juggle (4 different colors, i believe)
If I forgot to list anything above, then mention it in a post below. Otherwise, I hope another one of my **** guides will help you in the long run, and I'll see you in another guide.
Happy Hunting!
