I'm not here to 'enlighten you' and provide some kind of validation for what the staff do. You simply do not know. If you have an empathic desire to understand, which you do not, then perhaps you should arrange a tournament and attempt to host it for three hours straight.

Pazx you have a negative attutude to everything that you either dislike or isnt your favourite.Every time you come to a disagreement you cant just take it in your stride you have to shwo off and prove someone wrong and also you seem to not one sided and never agree with others , if its not what you think its wrong and is terrible. When i said has this woman been to mod or looked at pk boards i wasn't reffering to my skill i was how it is dominated by a few top players that exceed everyone else at pk.(Sorry next time ill break it down into two -three letter words for you to understand) Yeh that is very true rufus but maybe you could only get your kills in a certain area naybe a massive stadium for this. This Stadium idea might work better if did hunger games as tyler suggested.Still thnk this idea work but needs to be changes to make it ore competetive and fair. |

It's would require a lot to script it so it logged all the kills so they could check and see it the same person was killing the same person and boosting, still would be hard to know if it was on purpose, plus arrow spammers could just end up stealing kills and such, (why I preferred the rate of fire in the archery range, realistic and more balanced than being able to shoot arrows like a gun that do as much damage as a sword swing and a bomb explosion.) Over all it's nice, but would simply be too hard to monitor and establish what is "fair" in terms of pking. I've suggested things like guild wars, all guild members able to PK members of another guild, but having limited lives before being warped out, couldn't arrow spam or spam bombs because it could hurt your own teammates. Perhaps even 4 way guild wars, or a place where at a set time it would automatically send out a event message so people could enter the war, and be put on teams automatically and evened out, then the entries end, and the two massive armies charge and attack, winners get 200-100 gralats so players will actually play it. There's a lot of options for events, but it comes down to the scripting... It's a lot of scripting and unfortunately iclassic doesn't have enough scripters so our current devs are backed up with projects.. |

This last GST we also had to update our "one-time" scripts to allow for two tournaments on the same server. The "one-time" work: 1. Create and design the database for registration, integrate the system with everything else. 2. Create and design the registration interface (notice how there's no chat commands). 3. Fix other systems involved with the tournament. We had to put in a ton of work to fix the spar system before we could use it the way we are. 4. Test everything. Every time we host a GST we have to: 1. Create new hats and prizes. 2. Gather enough staff in advance to help host the event. 3. Train staff. 4. Maintain the registration system and resolve any bugs that appear. 5. Implement new features to make hosting the event easier. 6. Update players and make announcements. During the GST (which takes 3 hours on average) we have to: 1. Organize and address any issues staff are having hosting. 2. Have up to 6 staff members host the spars, with reserves in case one can't make it. 3. Validate and update the winners of the spars. 4. Run scans and crack down on individuals who are breaking rules. 5. Quickly solve any unknown issues that pop up. After the GST we have to: 1. Hand out prizes to participants. 2. Update the statues. 3. Clean up the database for the next GST. There's a lot of behind the scenes work (I think I've put in at least 60-80 hours into the GST in total) that goes into play when we host events like these. It's that work that separates the good events from the bad ones. If you don't know how to script or can't get someone who is reliable and actually works, good luck having any kind of success with a playercount as large as iClassic's. |
