Potential risks and hazards will always happen, especially in private. Its up to the people to decide what is best for themselves, not the government. Regulation is not the answer to people that are irresponsible enough to let their own children get addicted to weed at an early age. People like that will always do irresponsible things and regulation will not fix the risk of this at all. The government is not our parents. The government is not held responsible for these because it is a democracy, it is the exact opposite. The people should be responsible for deciding to do poor decisions or not. And with the whole crime thing, all I'm saying is that legalizing marijuana, and basically all other drugs, will sharply reduce crime. Of course it wont completely stop it.

http://alcoholism.about.com/cs/pot/f/mjp_faq14.htm Also, fun fact, it's technically possible to be addicted to anything. Addiction is not only what the substance is physically, but a part of psychology as well. This is why there's a show called "My Strange Addiction" |

I had a "I don't want to live on this planet anymore" moment when that idiot claimed smoking marijuana doesn't cause tar build up in your lungs. Also, on the idea of the plant, hemp cannabis (a different type that the marijuana used for smoking) is bred so in order for someone to get a actual high off of it it would require smoking enough that would kill you or land you in a ER for smoke inhalation. Its used for hemp, the fibers are long and strong, colonists used a relative of it to make stuff out of it, unlike trees hemp and reeds and such can be grown quickly and take up less resources than trees, thus making them better for paper making, and also making them more sustainable. Hemp can be used for a variety of purposes, in fact bags were woven out of it originally, it's made out of the stem, not the flowers or leaves, meaning even in a marijuana plant it would have less THC than the "herb". Once again industries that would lose out lobby and relate it to marijuana, if they took the breed and genetically changed the strain of it and called it something else and made stuff out of the fibers and nothing was said that would link it to marijuana then it would be legal... Of course, the groups in favor of it all ruin their cause by also going for marijuana being made legal and lobbying against people being put in jail for possession of marijuana, thus once again relating to the pot head stereotype of hemp... Anyway, normally I'm all for letting the idiots kill themselves, but unless we get something that can do it faster and cost the rest of us less then I think these drugs need to be stopped and only used at specific areas and laws passed so you cannot leave those areas while still under the effect of the drug. Of course people would claim that violates their freedom. If those morons want to kill themselves so badly then they should try cyanide rather than the drawn out Russian roulette where results take years. |
