Saying that winning GSTs is the only way to be good at GSing, thus making it so the team that has won the lion share of the GSTs recently is the only team that has players that can be counted as good is pretty asinine.

Not saying this because I think I was good at GS, I was definitely always a weak link, because I refused to adapt and just wanted to play the way I thought was fun.

Don’t put too much thought into it. These guys will say the mix gst is more competitive than the idevice and then turn around and call guys irrelevant or trash after constantly placing high in the super competitive gst.



Why are some people using the excuse “they’re not relevant now” as a reason to exclude them from this conversation? Isn’t this an ALL-TIME list? Jordan sucked with the wizards and he’s still considered the GOAT. Rocky Marciano knocked out Joe Louis, retired undefeated and nobody considers him being better than the brown bomber

haven’t been posting because the past few pages has been just multiple alumni members tag teaming others and jerking each other off which is not something we haven’t seen before but:

@blaze comparing ares to zeross is stupid. saying alumni “best team” of:
-thallen (good player)
-david (mediocre which seems to be a view shared by many in this thread, also a US member but among the worst core options)
-eko (easily the most painfully overrated player maybe ever)
-dante (have literally flawed this guy multiple times)
-mk (i don’t even know who this is tbh so can’t form an opinion)
would hard stomp US where “#2 player” (this still makes no sense) david struggled to stand out also seems stupid to me but these are just my opinions.

@thallen haven’t been beefing with you in a minute and not trying to start a flame war but “some real beta ****” is how you’re clearly avoiding a series with ares while just listing out excuses and then typing some edgy “heh you’re a waste of my time...” when clearly the whole spar community besides your 4 assistants blowing you think ares would put up a great fight. if you’re so confident that he’s trash, prove it? takes a few minutes.

but the reality of the spar community is that we are just competitive chatters now who never actually back up anything we’re typing, something i am also guilty of. instead it’s just trying to convince everyone that ares sucks through words in a similar way to how you convinced the community that certain alumni members like david are actually top 5 players through repeatedly ranking them high on stupid threads like this. this is coming from someone who you could dismiss with a “LOL this is the guy who is **terrified** to enter the gst” or some other cringe response that would only further prove my point. can we as a community abandon the lavar ball-esque “speaking it into existence” and actually start playing the game instead of hiding behind our words? from a “gst avoider” who stomps every team in practice but apparently that doesn’t prove anything if it’s not in the inconsistent best of 3 tournament, but the purpose of this isn’t to talk about myself, just providing the typical responses for you to eliminate an option in hopes that you actually answer with something reasonable.

inevitably i’m gonna get flamed for this by the entire alumni guild through more competitive chatting that accomplishes nothing but it would be nice to see a different outcome.

don’t talk to the dude, and most of what he said is true

yeah, ares didn’t do good that game, but he’s not lying when he said he doesn’t care about gst. The dude never bothers to practice, and holy/blackout never really cares if he does. He didn’t get half your hits, you went 18-24. Only reason we won a round was cause of brett (24-24) goin 9-6, while you went 5-5

No idea why you say brett’s bad at gs when you went 4-6 and 3-6 in this match. Not here to talk sh about you, never really cared if teammates did good/bad. Only counted hits, cause people asked for them
having one bad finals doesn’t mean you’re trash

The round we won (I was mvp, I went 6-4), you have me on 0.5 hp, and you can clearly see I finish on 1.0 health. Nice one

Edit: decided to count bc I don’t trust Aguzo’s incompetence. I went 7-6, 6-4, 4-4, 4-4. Counted Brett’s for only the round we won: 8-6. The 2:55 hit prolly confuses you, on that exact angle my sword reaches David and Brett’s does not. Graal bust that

It's hard for me to buy the whole, "graal is more competitive" bit too. Before the new lag era of graal most of alumni didn't play, or were, "at best 2nd tier" as I was once called. (with the exception of maybe dante, who wasn't even primarily a sparrer he was just a event juggernaut). If all wins being concentrated towards a select few who happen to be fairly good at sparring in this lag is what makes this game "more competitive", then I'm aight with being banned for no reason, I'd rather play different, more mechanically sound and competitively supportive/non toxic games.  

Another Myth busted  

No body should complain or roast anyone regarding GST if they're not holding the belt (including me) but arguing about single spar is a different thing I guess.
I think Holy's only good sparrers are Ares, Aguzo and Brett. That's in both guild spar and single spar. Regardless if they care about GST or not, they still perform well in it.

Also I think you guys are getting things mixed up, some people says Graal's era stayed the same since the beginning. Some players say the olden times was a different era to +2015 and that this one is a more competitive one. Some players say the old era (2009-2012) was a more competitive era.
You know what I think? A third era in single spar started already in 2018 and it's the most competitive one. I challenge all the old players to do as good as they used to do in single spar and get that same ratio. I still think those new players didn't adjust to GS yet but I know it's going to happen soon when new players are going to be called gods in GST. Just wait guys!

there's at most 4 people in the queue whenever I've checked the main room this past year. Majority of the time it's been the same 2 people sparring, and maybe 3 people afk
I like the optimism tho  

Guys, list your top 25 and select non alumni to form a new team, then beat alumni? I haven’t seen them lose.. so how do I believe that they suck, if I haven’t witnessed it with my eyes?
Really saying you don’t care thing leads to no where. We obviously spent the most hours in this game than any other games.
