Obama doesn't care about ebola. The US gov't doesn't have it as a top priority. Obama recently appointed someone to manage everything about the virus since they can't be damned to do it themselves. And we, "kids on a zelda ripoff game forum" (lol) are just as informed, if not more so, than your parents, friends, family and teachers about ebola. Not even the FDA is terribly worried; they just only now approved testing of another organization's solution to the virus.

You guys are overreacting to ebola more than those guys in the anime section reacted to CNN's article about CP.

Ebola hasn't even killed 5,000 as of now. For contrast, the flu kills 250,000 to 500,000 every year across the world. One person has died of ebola in the US.  

When people say something like "it hasn't killed very many people so we shouldn't be worried" is one thing I tend to despise. It's like saying we shouldn't do anything about a rat infestation because there's only a few. I'm not saying we should be worried, but we should definitely be prepared for it's potential impact on a global scale.

Seriously, human-kind has outlived numerous diseases that are probably 10x worse than Ebola.

Yes but humanity has only had air travel for a very short limited time. People are connected much more widespread than in plague days. In those days, the ones immediately around you were the ones you interacted with. These days, I will go two hours north on a saturday night to go party at a rave with 3000 people. The next day, I will be back home visiting my gym and such. Monday, I will go to a school where viruses run rampant and we share nearly everything with little hygiene. Then, I will board a plane to visit my grandparents all the way in California.

If we have 1/8 as deadly as the black plague, there is an insane amount of reason to be terrified.

It is true that it people connect more than they used to but we also have organised health care now. The fact that people travel more is countered by the way we can combat disease.

We have organized health care, but you know how many rooms we have that are said to be adequate enough material to combat a disease such as Ebola? (I think they are called biohazard rooms)? We have less than 20 spread out among 4 hospitals in the US. Enough to contain an outbreak hopefully, but not enough to stop an outbreak that has already started. Sure, it is better than Africa, but someone sick got into a very public place and we would have people in places where it would be too hard to contain the virus (normal hospital rooms)
