Yeah how convenient. Plants don't feel pain therefor you can cultivate, harvest and eat them all you want. By that logic if we kill animals without them "feeling" anything then it's ok? Oh but no, it has an actual life other than just standing around and eating so it's too cruel. Not everyone can afford to eat organic or buy this expensive ass vegan food. Maybe instead of trying to butt in to other people's business you do what you want and let others do the same. Try telling the people who barely get enough food to eat to cut meat from their diet. See how much you're helping them there. |

Plants aren't sentient though? There's a pretty big difference between life and sentience. I'm not telling you what to do and no one is saying you have to post in this thread or even read it. I mean it's a vegan thread, do you really expect people not to share their opinions? You're trying to make the point that eating meat is okay, so yeah - I'm gonna try tell you it's not. I'm arguing the point that eating meat for the sake of eating meat is unnecessary. If it's a matter of survival then yes, of course eat meat. For most of us here it's a choice, we can survive without it. |

You mind telling me how eating meat is bad other than "Its bad for the animals." People have been eating meat and raising animals for thousands of years. And you're going to tell me that after all this time, it's bad? You're forgetting the reason why people even eat food to begin with. We need to sustain ourselves and people who eat meat sustain themselves just fine as well as vegans and vegetarians. And yeah, animals inflict pain and suffering on those who they prey upon. Last time I checked, we're animals too. Carnivores and omnivores don't ****ing sing their prey to death. It's just the way of life. Everything comes at a |

The whole argument is that "It's bad for the animals", it's called empathy. 90 billion~ animals die every year when the majority of us can live without meat. In a world where 2 billion people are obese, 90 billion seems a rather unnecessary amount. How many species can you name that breed animals then kill them at such rates? |

5hift, it's clear you're stuck in your ways and it's clear you don't care. Which is fine, you're entitled to it, but don't get angry when people tell you the harm and truth and pretend that it doesn't go on. I don't care if you go vegan, it's clear to me you're stuck in your own head. But don't act like the industry is humane or in anyway acceptable.

You're ****ing delusional. I literally said like 10 times already that we all acknowledge the fact that animals suffer to provide us food. But that's nature. You can't change nature. I acknowledge the fact that animals suffer and graciously accept their sacrifice. Now stop making out meat eaters to be the bad guys because that basically accounts for the vast majority of the human population. We're just doing what we have always done. Yeah you can switch to the vegan/vegetarian alternatives but those in no way surpass or precede those who consume meat. I also made a note to mention how I disapprove of the wastefulness of the industry by not being able to provide to those who have nothing to eat. I may be stuck in my head but at least my head ain't up my own ass about somehow being superior to others who eat meat. |

Is it though? Think about it, when the population reaches this level, the demand to feed them increases. As a result, land becomes more scarce and it becomes harder to domesticate animals freely. This is just how the world works. Until we find more efficient farming methods that allow for more humane treatment of animals, this is the reality we have to face. People still need to eat and going vegetarian or vegan isn't always enough to sustain them. People with bone disease need sufficient amounts of calcium and they can't always rely on pill supplements or whatever vegan alternative. |
