WARNING: LONG THREAD. Read when you have most personal time. This is just about some building/quest/overworld ideas, and i've bolded each idea so you can view them easier. Like i said, this is a really long thread. longer than i thought it would be, but it's very detailed on quests and what not. Hopefully you take the time to read it through.
Does a staff member have to be seeking a level to accept and make use of a level in the game? Or can anyone submit a level at any given time and possibly get it into the game? Here's some ideas I have and I've been working on/designing/scripting:
Graal City Mall
- Where the fox's mansion is, I'd like to see that whole cliff removed. I like the park idea on the FB server, but there's nothing on that cliff on the iPhone server. Perhaps a mall or events house or some sort? Fox's mansion would still be there of course. I know Az said he doesn't like to make major changes to Graal City, but you've got to see and test out what I've been working on.
The mall is designed after West Edmonton Mall (a Canadian mall which used to be the worlds largest mall at one point). The mall in real life has an indoor roller coaster and amusement park, skating/hockey/ice rink, indoor beach, indoor lake with a pirate ship and live sharks in the water, with submarine boats you can rent to go under and see the sharks. Like...800 stores, I think? I forget. Penguins that run around the mall int he upper floor where it's cooler. And there's lots more, of course.
What I was thinking of for this mall is re-doing the Balamb Port ship and importing a copy of it into the mall with stairs leading down onto it, a shop/ bar on the inside and a glass window on the bottom of the deck that has a bunch of NPC fish or that fish head swimming around.
For the indoor roller-coaster, a railroad with barriers leading throughout the mall. The barriers are to prevent walkers to get on the roller coaster while its being used. Basically, the NPC railroad would be scripted to automatically ride it when you touched it. You don't need to purchase a draisines, but the roller coaster could be a recolor of the draisines. Maybe you would have to pay for the roller coaster though. It could also be draisines-exclusive and lead to shops that aren't accessible without the draisines item.
For the indoor beach, well this is easy. Also, importing the slide from Onnet Town to slide down the waterfalls. Replacing the image of the slide with maybe the animated flowing waterfall GIF. That way it looks like you're slide down a water slide.
Toy shops, such as the things that you might get in the GST shop, player-submitted body/head/sword/shield shops.
An indoor zoo and railroad station. Someone once posted that they don't like the railroad near the church going over the cliff cause it didn't look right. Adding this train station would be like an indoor subway. An underground level that leads under the church yard and up onto that cliff. Would also bring a lot more people to the mall, to the shops, etc if they're using the station as their starting point for railroad travels.
There is a place at West Edmonton Mall that looks like an indoor city basically. The outside of the shops are designed to look like completely different buildings and the floor looks like a concrete alley that you can walk down and window shop. You could have a road that looks as if it's a small town with closely-packed buildings (only the front of the buildings with no length).
Also, a skating rink like SnowTown just for the fun of it, and a horse-racing track indoors. Maybe even a running track? Where you get something similar to boots for a while, but it can only walk over certain tiles or NPCs which represent the track and you would race to a specific point.
DeadWood Haunted House
This may or may not be in development yet if it's been added to the list of Graaloween updates coming soon. i've tried working on the Haunted House just for the fun of it and to test my scripting abilities. i haven't got very far, mostly because i had no ideas for this little quest. So now that i've got ideas, i'd like to share them in case the development team needs inspiration.
• You first enter this haunted mansion which leads to...an empty room. nothing at all. (i forget what they're called, but it's like an empty room you enter into at the front door of a house before you walk into the actual house). Anyways, there's an NPC door script (predefined) which opens when you touch it. This would would actually close when you touch it.
What's your first reaction when you walk into an empty room with no content? Well, you walk out. There's nothing to do or see, so you leave. Or so you try...When you went to leave, the door would close on you (there would be no warp to the outside level at this point. you would be required to carry on with the quest). so you're basically locked in. an NPC ghost appears and explains a story about the culture beliefs of Graaloween.
in some countries, they believe it's a feud between Summer and Autumn where Summer is fighting to stay and Autumn wins the war in the end. Since Azrael means Angel of Death, i thought maybe Azrael could represent one of the Graal Gods mentioned in the church of Angel Clan. The ghost tells about his feud with the other gods and how he rained death and destruction on Graal. Eventually the kingdom was restored, but DeadWood was barely touched and left in destruction because feared the souls of the dead still wandered in these areas.
So after being told the story, your player automatically starts speaking for itself, denying belief in ghosts, etc and believes he's dreaming. Then he wakes up...in a casket in the basement level of the mansion. Now you must make your way through the mansion, trying to find your way out to the top level and escape the mansion. of course it's no easy task.
there will be mini quests, such as having to find a certain room and scavenging for an item, bringing it into another room for some purpose, etc. For instance you're in the basement and you go up one level and find a maze. You complete the maze...simple. However, it isn't til the end of the maze that you are told you have to bring a pumpking through the maze. you remember the pumpkins you seen in the basement and begin pulling them up the stairs, through the hallway into the room with the maze. then again, you pull them through the maze. when they reach the end, a door opens. or possibly you recieve a key to another room.
Once you recieve this key, you walk back out into the hallway and unlock the door that was once locked. a ghost girl is sitting in a chair. You walk up to her and she says "it was the light side that defeated Azrael in his era of chaos. your way into deadwood is your way out." the keywords are "light" and "way into deadwood", meaning latern.
You turn on your latern and another door appears. Your player says "i didn't realize it was this dark in here. i didn't see that door there before". you wonder into the room which is a bridge across a pit. there are ghosts that cause damage floating back and forth. you just have to walk across the bridge without dying. if you have patience, this is a simple task. at the end you recieve a free item. basically, these mini quests inside the haunted house give you free items. so by the time you get out, you've got a few free items for Graaloween.
Next, there could be a tunnel with bats that cause damage you have to get through. Once you make it out, you're in Sardons Tower. only thing is that it's dark, the doors are locked and there are ghosts everywhere. You then see a wand on the floor (because Sardon is an evil magician, right?). Anyways, when you pick it up, it says "the name Sardon has been carved into this wand" or something like that.
You go upstairs and as you walk by the library guard or the resting room guard, the library guard asks you to step inside for a minute and the resting room guard suggests you check out the library. So they both tell you to step into the library. More ghosts flying around, and a guard leads you over to a book about magic and it asks you to solve some riddles for tests and tells you that Sardon is known for reciting magical riddles to harm innocent Graalians. once you solve these riddles, you can leave. They will be fairly simple.
of course, your character atomatically take out the wand (a sword code) and everytime you answer a riddle right, you automatically slash the sword (wand) and a light appears temporarily, as if casting a spell. once you've solved all the test riddles, you are allowed to leave the library and proceed up the stairacse. there's an existing NPC up there that talks about moving statues. you have to push the statues over and pull blocked on top of where they used to stand in order to go up the next staircase.
The next staircase leads to the moving stones that kill you, as we all know from experience. Except it will be bigger, cover the entire level and require pulling/pushing blocked, slaying NPC zombies/guards/ghosts and then you make it out to the top of the tower where the flag is. Sardon has his back turned and is talking to another player who appears to be extremely skilled by the way he dresses, but Sardon defeats him with his riddle spells. You feel intimidated and nervous about proceeding.
Sardon then noticed you're there, turns around and starts reciting a riddle. You answer correctly, automatically slash the sword, a light appears for a second as if casting a spell and Sardon's health goes down 1. You keep completing these riddles until you have his health down to 0. if you get one or he gets you down to 0 first, you just die and leaves without a trace. you might get a reward still just for trying.
After that, you notice he left something behind. A crystal ball of some sort. You then don't know what to do of course, so you just look around the darkened, locked tower, discovering the kitchen...where there's a murder scene. The NPCs are enraged with the fact that you caught them after-hours cooking up people into their food. They then begin to attack you and you have to kill them all. if they kill you, you're not killed, just "knocked down".
After you kill them, you then walk over to the suspect who seems to be still alive...temporarily. he whisperes "the others...in the storage room". A door in the back says "*thump thump* or something, you walk over to it and it says "this door is weak, maybe i can knock it down". you use your sword to cut through the wooden door and free the people who were going to be murdered for food. you recieve a gift at this, possibly.
or they tell you about this "black market" that an NPC in the tower has mentioned before. you find the NPC and he tells you about a bargain shop which he reveals as a door in the wall you have to bomb. onc eyou get inside, he asks if you have anything to bargain or trade. Your character responds "all i've got is this crystal ball Sardon left behind". He says he'll trade it for one of his items in the shop.
This is a shop with maybe, like...4 little rewards, you get 1 free for trading the crystal ball "ONLY if you picked it up when Sardon left it behind". if not, no free item. however, you still have the option of purchasing an item from the black market. the crystal ball is just to get one free of your choice.
Anyways, you don't know what else to do after this point, so you wonder around the tower again and notice the underground tunnel you first came in through is now unlocked. you go back through it to deadwood back into the haunted house. Once you get back in the haunted mansion, NPCs of admins appear. Make it so that this part actually looks as if the admins are real.
They might appear to warp or summon you, their names are gold whether or not you have names turned on, etc. just make it look like they are the real thing. then one of them starts asking you questions about why you went in there, how you got into the haunted house, etc. maybe even say you're going to get banned or jailed for enterting in resitrcted buildings that are under development which would be a lie.
Then an NPC player runs in and starts slashing at the staff, warning you that they are under Sardons control and if you don't act fast, they will kidnap you and put you in jail. you kill off the posessed staff and the NPC who helped you then runs down the hallway. You follow him. basically, from here is a maze, a bunch of halloween baddies to kill, etc. you eventually find your way back to the front door, which finally opens.
you've completed the haunted house, recieved numerous rewards and maybe an NPC will say "congratulations. for your effort and courage, there is a v.i.p. room in Club Crypt open for your enjoyment. This v.i.p. room is for people who have completed the mini-quests in the haunted house. only they have been granted permission to enter. Maybe there is a shop with the broomstick mount like someone mentioned and a bunch of party-goers who also went into the mansion. this was thoroughly thought out as i went along, actually...it may be general in some places. but that's what i've got.
Apartments
Playerhouses for people with the free version of Graal. upon purchasing the apartment with gralats, maybe they get a free few clothes they can grab to wear other than the one's in taylorrichaards. This is aimed at free players and anyone who purchased one of the customization or guildhouse/house packs won't be able to rent an apartment. Or maybe these can be player-submitted levels for the general public?
Outdoor Guild Spar Tournament (GST)
Why not host the GST on the overworld for a month? it would be like roman knights jousting or dueling/fighting. in a temporary colloseum-like spar room with raised bleachers for the audience to sit on. The winners could get their statues somewhere in the city, like a temporary monument that says "dedicated to those who have served to keep Graal City a peaceful place ", because Graal City is known for it's peacefullness "non-pk" zone. Could also include the second and third place winners, because that deserved recognition too. to make it that far int he GST takes a lot of skill and dedication. Especially when it comes down to the last 2 sparers and your teammate stands up to the challenge and wins the round for you.
Sword in The Stone
Just for the fun of it, we al know about the sword in the stone. The sword that is...well...stuck in a stone and the "chosen one" is the only one who can pull it out of the stone. Anyways, just have it so you can pull it back and forth in the stone, but not out of the stone. Or maybe, when you pull it, show the gani of the high five with a sword in the right or left hand. Kind of like when you show the egg trophy and your hands are in the air, except a sword instead. Like i said, no purpose, just for the fun of it.
That's all i've got for now and it's getting late. i warned you it was long! hope most of you actually read through it all...post your opinions, but this is aimed at staff.
