IGN: Looking back at the core gamers once again, they have an Xbox 360 or a PS3. And then all indications are that Microsoft and Sony are about to bring their next consoles in within the next year or two. What are your thoughts about how Wii U will compete? Not only with the existing platforms, but the ones that are just around the corner?

REGGIE: We're about to launch a tremendously powerful system. A system that pushes out great graphics, a system that has an opportunity to do a lot of things. What I've heard the fan community say is, I want my Mario, I want my Zelda, and I want the best of third-party. And that's what we're looking to bring to consumers.

 

The small size of the WiiU is leaving me a little worried that it's not going to be that powerful.

I remember I think last year at E3 you were worried that only one of the Pad controllers would be used... hehe when he said you could use two I thought of you XD  

An updated traditional controller is coming to the Wii U.

Nintendo is releasing the Wii U Pro Controller for the Wii U.

The controller is lighter, and intended to be more attractive to gamers seeking a traditional gaming experience. Along with a standard button layout, the controller also offers click-enabled analog sticks.

The wireless controller also appears to contain a mini-USB charge plug. The Wii U will support up to four controllers.

lol. Such close-minded nonsense. Do you think the 360 controller really introduced anything new and revolutionary? Do you think it matters? Original Xbox controller was a ripoff of the Dreamcast controller. 360 controller is really nothing special anyways, you could probably find a ton of generic PC gamepads that looked just like it before it was even conceptualized.  

And? The xbox and playstation stole the use of the x,b,y,and a buttons.

Would've been better if I said the button gimmick x.x

Well, the use of two gamepads halves the framerate, so thats probably not going to be implemented much unless they can get around that.

Did I ever say it did? Nintendo basically copied the exact shape and design of the controller and swapped the buttons and 2nd stick positions. Also I would love to see all these pc controllers youre talking about.

Nintendo is trying to appeal to Xbox and Ps3 gamers. Some people probably prefer to play with a actual controller rather than a ginormous tablet...this solves the problem.

One very small pet peeve i have with the Xbox 360 controller is that the joysticks are shelled with very, very soft plastic so if you, say, accidentally sit on the controller or something it could crack or shatter them. Only reason this is a problem to me is cause that exact situation happened xD

Aye, I've seen it and honestly that game in particular and it looks on par with games like L4D as far as graphics go.

Not saying it makes it bad but the videos they've shown in the past(in particular that bird flying around a Japan province or something) doesn't seem anywhere near comparable to what's being shown now. What's being shown now looks like 360 titles.

It's not a big deal, but it would have been nice to see some Nintendo games with the graphics being shown before the hardware was shown off.
