I would hardly call myself high class especially not the area that I live in, I suppose it is civilised though which is a good start.

Yes.
I think so, not that far yet. Every character has their own house which kind of integrates with the story but I'm pretty sure you can buy your own like the other GTA's

Yes you can drive planes.
You can buy your own houses after you complete the second or third mission of the third character that is playable. (you have to unlock him by completing the other two character missions).
The fastest cars imo are the fancy looking ones that usually drive by the rich character ( the second one you unlock) house.  

I was hanging out with Franklin. Grabbed some drinks at a bar and watched a movie. I parked the car for our third activity. Everything went great until Franklin opened the car door. A speeding car had destroyed Franklin's door and knocked him over. In a fit of rage he pulls out a machine gun shooting the car. A gang takes notice and shoots Franklin unconscious. Thus, our meeting ended abruptly and didn't finish </3

Hasn't this always been the case?

Anyways, is this like GTA4 where fast = useless because the fast cars usually have such horrible traction and control it's like driving on ice? Would be nice if GTA5 went a little back on the realistic driving and allowed it to be fun again.

I think the cars are nice and smooth except for the one drift move that slides extremely far. Although, I'll choose motor bikes over cars any day. Very easy maneuverability and fast.  

Remember to use their special ability to slow down time when doing races/running from police on sharp turns.

depends on a few factors

the characters driving skill: each character has a separate skill tree in which they can develop to get better at things.

customizations on the car: cars have their own stats, and adding customizations in the car shop can increase or decrease things.

terrain/type of car: a fast sports car looses all controllability really when driving on a dirt road, trucks, buggies or cycles do better.  

I stashed one car my garage that goes pretty fast.
Its the Obey-something. Basically has an Audi front with a Bugatti back end.
