Le bump. More peeps may want Talon's (Agony's for oldbies) advice on headphones. After all, no one wants to accidentally buy a dr. dre beats headphones by mistake, right?

I've been buying Sennheiser CX 300 in-ear earbud headphones since 2008 and I think I've had around 4 different sets since then. My current set, which I bought in 2010, are about to die. I do like Sennheiser headphones and as they are one of my most used items I don't mind paying a bit extra this time.

I guess my budget is like $60, music preference changes a lot, but more often than not its heavy. I am a fan of in-ear headphones and they are used mainly in my iPod Touch. I don't give a **** about appearence or design, but I don't like earphones with volume controllers on them. I guess I prefer sound quality and portability over all.

Solutions pls.

I would recommend either the VSonic GR07 or the Audio Technica ATH-CKM500, but they're both a little outside your price range, and since the CKM500's predecessor is out of sale everywhere (and also inflated from $30 to $90 in two months), I'll recommend the GR07's little brother - the VSonic GR06. It's very renowned for having fantastic cost efficiency, and it's price tag hits right up your alley. The overall sound signature will be a bit reminiscent of the CX600 with a little more clarity and depth. In it's price range (and even a little higher into the $120s) it has a top-of-the-line midrange and bass extension. They synergize so, so well together for heavy music. The GR06 has one of the most natural drum reproduction I have heard in any headphone, minus the GR07 and Sennheiser IE8. I even feel it outclasses the $175 Sennheiser IE7. The soundstage is sub-par to some other headphones in it's price range, but unless you're listening to binaural classical, you probably won't be able to discern it. The trebles aren't the edgiest in class, but it's well rounded enough that it will sparkle with some EQ tuning. Overall, an excellent headphone, in and out of its class.

On a side note, they are difficult to find now, but I've managed to find an eBay Top Rated seller who I believe is an authorized VSonic reseller - he always has 10+ available and I'm pretty sure it's the same guy I got my pair from: http://www.ebay.com/itm/380378110428?

I think they're overpriced pieces of worthless plastic, sharing the same build quality and durability of a Fisher Price knockoff, whilst the sound quality is reminiscent of stuffing cotton balls in my ears while I have a cold. They're also ugly and wearing them out in public makes you out as a poser, especially the ones who wear them around their neck with the detachable cable out.

The B&W P3 and P5 are ****ing fantastic. The P5 is such an amazing headphone at such a low price. They sell them at the Apple Store cheaper than Beats Studio "HD" (lol HD) and people still buy those over the P5s. Honestly, the P5 is just a fantastic headphone. Highly recommended to everyone who likes warm sound siggys (think movie theaters).  

Do you give advice on gaming headsets? Xbox 360 in particular.

Easy. I'm going to have to go with my main headphone, the Audio Technica ATH-M50. Widely regarded as the budget king of budget headphones (ranked #2 headphone on Head-Fi), and I can vouch that it can compete - easily - with aforementioned B&W P5. It's got a strange tone; it's remotely metallic sounding with a veil of warmth in the sound, while the sound signature itself is V-shaped (extended trebs and lows). It's my go-to headphone for rock, and has so much clarity, soundstage and instrument separation my friend (whose dad has a ridiculously good sound system) was blown away and said it felt like someone was playing the demo track in front of him. I honestly don't know what to say, it's just... Good.
