coulda just made it so the timer would work while offline, but i guess switching to bans made it so longer bans could be done....

You could never message people from jail. There would always be an error message saying "You can not send messages from jail!".

I think banning is more fair anyway, so I'm glad they removed the jail. It makes more sense to just disallow the player from playing, rather than make them destroy their iDevice's battery life by sitting there.

Oh thought you could, never knew never got sent to jail :O

You can pm people on classic while you are playing era, so I would always just go on my Era account and pm people

Any way bans really screwed up, I have a friend with a jail broken device who was about to buy a gralat pack so he could get some stuff, then bam! Banned for a month for having an in app cracker. I think that's the biggest problem with bans right now, that shouldn't even be a ban. Instead a message should've popped up saying he can't buy gralats with in app crackers.

Also year long bans should be removed, as well as any ban over 6 months because after 6 months of a ban your not coming back, bans should either be a lot shorter or turn into permanent bans if the time would exceed 6 months.

I also believe ban times should correlate with the reason, not the offense or staff member. Because recently bans haven't been making much sense to me, one month bans for swearing, what is this club penguin? Swearing is a one day ban, At the most, not only that but year bans for bug abuse? Bug abuse is three day to a week ban, and so what if they have committed multiple offenses, it should take quite awhile to get to a year long ban if your just abusing bugs.

Another problem is ban times vary depending on the staff who bans you, some staff are really lenient, and some are really harsh. I believe there should be some sort of rubric for staff for when they ban people so that Player A doesn't get banned twice as long as Player B just because a Staff Member1 caught him.

On iEra we have to jail/ban players for a specific amount of time depending on the seriousness of the case. So you'll find our ban or jail times far more consistent than what i've seen of iClassic.

Lol what a liar, iEra's system sucks just as much as classics since the system bans for what you've done in the past (even if the bans were a mistake in the first place) so say if I sexual harassed and then got banned It will take the previous jailing and bannings into account as well.  

era news correct me if i am false but i think classic has much more bans from era since i have played era and i see no discussion on this subject and none of my friends have been banned ! if what you say is true it should be changed

A years ban for severe vulgarity O.o? It might just be me, but I've been noticing more harsh bans lately. The system is fine how it is, but sometimes is abused a bit.

Yephenpeace and fireen since you post on thread i suggest that bann hours should have a limit! one year really is too much... banning role should be to make members rethink and come back as better graalians but one year bans just make them quit which is real sad:/ i talked a bit with flea and i think he did it just to show off and now has to quit. if the bann time was like 3 months he would come back and be more careful! Do you guys get my point ??

Lol I know you said not to talk about bans but I was banned for longer then that (still am) for something smaller then that.  

I like the ban system feels good to ban people In my opinion. Being banned for a long time usually means multiple offences which is usually stated in the ban.  

Unfortunate if you're banned unfairly, otherwise the system works.

Hell, they might have set an alarm on their ipods/iphones and went to play different apps in the meantime during the ban system

This. A set amount of time is definitely more fair, but with slight alterations (give or take 50 hours) depending on the severity of said case. I got banned once for 12 hours for saying "homo", and that was my first ban of the type (it was funny, the ban reason was "FOR BEING HOMOPHOBIC"). My only other ban was an accidental in-app purchase faker attempt.  

Since there are so many post I will put my feedback in.
(Still not regarding those two who were banned.)

Depends on the ban type like VIP scamming excessively hacking and severe vulgarity to a very high degree can get you banned for a very long time

I see nothing wrong with this, that shows there is actually a system. However, they both were using severe vulgarity and one received 8,750 hours more. The one who also had Harassment had less hours, and harassing someone I feel is worse than possibly cursing in an empty room a staff member happened to be hidden in.

people say this to me all the time and when i check their ban history comes up as a big list from time to time

They both honestly don't care about their bans lol.. they looked at it like it was a good thing. One put up his ban picture, then the other did the same thing and got banned, then commented on his picture letting him know he did it also. I'm not talking about their bans however, I'm talking about the system behind it.

If they were to put in how many severe words they used, added 5 or so hours per word, or actually have an equation to calculate the ban time I believe the system could be better. Then it wouldn't matter on the GP's judgement to ban a person for the time that they want, depending on what they think and if they are friends. Since friendship and popularity was part of the previous conversations they talked about on facebook.

needs to be redone, using a more strict and automated system to make it more fair and so the ability to set custom bans is gone, theres reasons, they set one as the ban reason, if youve been banned for that reason before it increases the time, if not it sets it at the set time for that offense, the rules and punishments for each rule should be on a board on the info kiosk for players to see.

Honestly, they could make a system where they can choose the words that the said, what they did, and jail them for that amount of time. Adding a variable to that warning count, if they have done it three times result in a ban. The banning time could go up a day for each time done. For instance, 3 warnings, 5 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, 96 hours and so on. Or if no warning, 5 hours, 10 hours, 15 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours and so on.

Then judgement wouldn't even have to be made if there was a previous attempt, since it would just add on time depending on their reason history variables.
Lets say you have harassed someone
client.jail.harassment++;
Time is added to your harassment variable and nothing else. Being jailed for harassment could only check for how many times they have harassed. And there should be one separate for sexual harassment. (A longer time)

Going from a few minutes, or a few days all the way up to 1-2 years so suddenly.. There really is no logic behind it except that a person wasn't known or liked...

So I believe there could be a jailing/banning system created.
(And it would seriously only take a day or two).




Also, a message to all of their friends notifying them via PM that they were banned for "such and such" and how long would be pretty good too.

Not only would it let them know why they haven't been on, but it would deter them from doing the same, or let them know how their friend acts. Do they want to be friends with someone who sexually harasses people? Would the person who did it like losing friends due to his own actions? Would he not try to change his actions?  

The jail times and the OLD bans were much more consistent than the current ban system.
The first or second times for an offense would usually land you the same jail time, after that each time you did it again your time increased an hour.
The old ip bans would be like 3 day, week, and a month I can't remember for sure.

I remember getting jailed for 30 minutes for vulgar language, so someone getting a months ban for swearing is pretty extreme.
