Rendering large areas of opacity can be stressful on GPUs. However yes, it does seem like Stefan is moving past the limitations of the older hardware as they are indeed very limiting.

However, if this is not something that effects gameplay(I'm not talking about TIME. I'm talking about effecting the players actual VISION) then I question if it should be able to be enabled or disabled by users. Could users brighten their screens to the point that they can counteract the negative effects of night(might it easier to see)? If so, then why not just let them disable it anyways?

well i dont know, you think it would be easy? i dont know how to script, i dont want to be too damanding. but yea there could be a option, just might ruin the ingame affect, or make all npcs have trouble seeing and demensia.

I don't think I was clear. I was saying that one of the staff will probably think "ZOMG LES JUS MAK IT DIFFRENT TIME ZONS BY COUNTRY!!!! PROBEM SOLVD!!!"

And that would be awful.  

i dont think they would be able to get away with that, i dont see why they would.

A dark haze layer like Deadwood or the interior of the caves would work for the graphic aspect, but the system itself isn't sufficient enough to accommodate for every time zone in the world.

I've said at least 5 times already! Rufus is right, It's going to be a three day/night cycle per day system, meaning that no timezone will be effected always, The system won't have to accomodate anyone as it won't be a earthly 24 hour day/night cycle.

the lantern would be usefull for something other than caves linking to snowtown and deadwood and such!

I love the idea and if they could pull it off it would be wonderful. It might cause a fair amount of lag though :/  

Good idea, the timezone should go by GMT then.
