That is slightly ridiculous. However, the difference between these gamers and footballers is that they're participants and aren't paid regardless of the outcome of the game. Footballers are paid stupid amounts of money to kick a ball around a field and act like arse holes in the media.

First off, they aren't just kicking a ball around a field. They are practicing every day a week for years in order to become some of the best in the worlds at running their plays, achieving excellent teamwork, and pushing physical limits. It takes much physical willpower but even more so mental willpower.

They sign off to very limiting contracts, have to do nearly whatever they are told, and have to stay healthy nearly all the time. They have to study the game inside out and many have played their entire life. Many sports players don't act like "arse holes" in the media as they actually donate to charity, make their own charities, or endorse humane campaigns.

Sports are an amazing way of allowing countries to express their pride for their country (or local regions) as well as participating in fierce competition- and it is not deadly like war is.  

well Brazil vs Croatia was bs. A penalty over nothing, a bs call for julio cesar not timing his jump right and then no call on ramirez who obviously made a clear foul before the ball went to oscar………. I wonder how many more problems would mandzukic have caused Brazil. Obviously FIFA can't let the host country lose the first game of the tournament.

On topic, that call for the PK was pretty bs. Fred just flopped on the ground, but I wouldn't go as far as to accuse them of bribes yet, even though there's been that sort of stuff in the past. It sucks but they closed it with a third goal by the end and played better overall so they weren't undeserving of the win.

Croatia started getting flow with modric and rakitic creating plays I can't remember if it was before the penalty or after, I was too pissed off at the bs call. The 3rd goal would of never happened if the ref actually was refereeing, ramirez mauled down rakitic i believe, again i was too frustrated to pay attention to the players. It seemed after the penalty call, every touch on brazil was a foul. Olic never committed a foul on julio cesar, and i'm sure if manduzkic wasn't suspended he would of been more dangerous then neymar.

This whole incident had to do with an idiotic decision by the ref to stab a player in the field. I am not surprised as to what happens, you stab a person in front of his family and friends by breaking the rules of a fist fight- bad things happen.

Lets not forget that this was an amateur soccer match in the midst of a country with an incredibly high crime rate. This picture you posted has almost nothing to do with what I was talking about.

Fair enough :3 I'm just giving my opinion after all. I'm sure there's something out there that I support that others don't. I do think however that the English get overly worked up about football, especially in the North-east where I live. They practically breathe football here. Football events are also notorious for the homophobia/racism spouted by the fans during the game.

Yes, local events bring in a great amount of revenue and generate quite a few jobs! Although it may seem unfair that sports professionals make a lot of money (and perform jobs I don't care to watch), there's no doubt that they make a reasonable share of what they generate for the economies they participate in.

Yes lets all celebrate as the brazilian goverment shoot sleeping children on the streets for the efforts of the upcoming games and destroy houses and buisness for the visitors from rich countrys to push in money for the other rich people who will not only keep that money but ship the stadiums for money to buy the equipment for the olympics


And you guys were worried about the wages of footballers

Blame fifa not the players. Do some research and you'll see how many players have foundations for their home countries or various charities.

Can't blame football in General when uefa helps out many foundations. FIFA is the only one to blame they profit 2 billion dollars and leave behind less then 500 million dollars.
