I think it's really cool that they're having you play many different people and that you actually die. It gives me a much better feeling tbh than being that superhero-like guy who never dies and always has a soldier grab you before you fall or **** like that. Movies have gone away from that happily ever after ending, and now it looks like they're doing that with Battlefield 1. Definitely looks cool.

I need a better CPU but screw it I'm buying anyway. Just gonna have to tweak my CPU settings. Not passing this game up. I left BF4 for BF1 cause I'm itching for a history shooter again. Can't wait to play this.

Played it for several hours now, questionable experience on PS4. I'm a battlefield person, i've played several hundred hours of battlefield 4 and am fairly good at it. When comparing the two, BF1 movement just feels so unbelievable clunky. I know they're probably doing this for the WW1 immersion but gameplay wise it is so annoying. You sprint slower, jump slower and not as high, everything takes longer to do. Sniping. If you are on XB1/ PS4 don't really bother. BF4 sniping was hard enough with the bullet drop, and headshot only damage, but with the weird controls on BF1, the reduced aim assist on snipers, and lower scope magnifications (aswell as the weird sweet spot mechanic) sniping is horrible. The only possible way to get kills is to be within 100m to get the sweet spot 1 shot kill. Headshots are next to impossible as it is so difficult to track people without the aim assist and shoot them when they're moving. Other than that the most you'll probably get it a hit marker, they'll start to run off, you'll most likely miss because it's so hard to snipe at moving people, and then they're gone. There is quite a lack of guns and unlocks in BF1. More than battlefront but nowhere near the amount in BF4. I thought if there was a lack of guns because of the WW1 period they would add more gadgets and customisation but that's not the case, can't customise your character whatsoever (In bf4 you could wear character camos) almost half of each classes gadgets are unlocked from the start, and each class really only has 4 guns, since there are 3 variations of each gun which all look the same. Attachments are all unlocked from the start and there's really only scope, bayonet or iron sight to choose from. (Again to put into perspective BF4 had about 8 unique guns per class and then another 24 that you could use in any class, and that's excluding secondaries. BF1 has a small handful of more guns but they are locked off for pilot/tanker classes so you have to play that class to use them. Don't know why they couldn't have just made them universal since they are mostly just pistol variants with stocks. Also prepare to die countless times to being knifed in the back as footsteps are basically non existent, and the bayonet charge makes next to no noise. So yea, i'd suggest waiting awhile to buy this, don't fall into the hype- only reason BF1 got hype was because of COD fanboys hyping it up because they didn't like the call of duty they got this year. As a side note, on ps4 the menus are incredibly laggy, there is a very noticeable delay when switching through the menus and waiting for things to load and it is becoming very aggravating

I personally love it. The maps are pretty sweet, the campaign really hits hard this time around unlike the lackluster BF3/BF4 campaigns, and the graphics are so pretty on PC. I love the gunplay and the combat especially. I always loved Battlefield games and this one personally blows 4 out of the water. Sure they might not be a lot of guns but c'mon the guns we do have are fun to use and play around. Sadly, more will be coming only from DLC which is always a pet peeve of mine.

I played BF1 during the beta and I pre-ordered the standard version (so I get to play it friday) but from beta impressions, the controls, sniping, and aiming aren't anywhere near as bad as Sam is saying it is. There's a slight aim assist, but it's nothing great - nor should it be. There wasn't headshot only damage either. Sniping was great at long distances, while still fairly easy to miss your shots. I thought it was pretty well-rounded. The beta's map was very open, though, so a lot of people did snipe. BF1 melee was clunky for me, but I had also never played a BF game before. Again, these are just from my beta gameplay, but I doubt things have changed that much. I also don't want a **** load of guns, attachments, or customization. I got really sick of COD and their damn packages they give you. Just want a simple shooter that I can actually focus on, instead of dealing with the constant pressure flr microtransactions so I could get glowing purple clothes.

At first I thought that was one of those 1 in 1000 animations you could get but its an actual gun that existed in those times

Yeah apparently. Still don't see what "tactical" use it has in the game itself. This thing is the textbook definition of a pea-shooter. Anyways, I think the lack of guns in general is a good thing. I remember BF3 (without DLC) didn't have too many guns and most of them were pretty good. Now I look at BF4 and the metric **** ton of weapons it has and just don't know where to start. |

It's mainly just to play around with. You unlock it at scout rank 10 and I love the animation when you equip it. It's like uh..well okay.

It's a cool historical thing that just seems like a fun toy. The funny thing is that it was actually a real gun during WWI

Had the game for over a day now, level 28, unlocked pretty much everything but the engineer rank 10 gun. Don't see the longevity in it. Not really understanding why you guys say it's good to not have many unlockables or guns. They are what gave the game longevity, BF4 came out at the end of 2013 and just under 3 years later I was still playing it up until BF1s release trying to unlock all the attachments for all the guns. The whole reason BATTLEFRONT failed was because of the lack in unlocks, BF1 is heading in the same direction currently. I just want to unlock stuff, I don't know why they auto unlocked every attachment from the start either. I would have preferred they used the old system where the more you use the gun the more attachments you unlock. Once again going back to BF4, I would have no issue using the same gun trying to unlock all the attachments, even if it took me 500 kills to unlock everything for it to get the attachment I wanted I was still happy to do it since it's something to work towards. I was expecting lots of skins for guns/ players at the very least for the lack of guns. I don't think there are even skins for every gun and the skins you can get look bad with the exception of a small handful as they as mostly just camouflage patterns. I'm not expecting pink and red camos but at least stuff that's cool like chrome or all black camos etc- which still fit into the games timeperiod immersion. The gameplay is good but not good enough to keep you playing. I mean you basically unlock everything by level 8 with the exception of a few guns that you need class ranks for. There aren't even any assignments to do like in BF4 to unlock class specific guns, it's just get rank 10 (which takes a few hours), level up 2s if you have no warbonds and you've got it. Some of the gun variations seem like they were just put in there to make it seem like there were more guns then there actually is. EG, there are 3 variations of the same sniper, 1 has no scope, the other has a longrange scope, and the third has a short range scope. It could have been the same gun and just had those scope options as an attachments and not be 3 separate guns. No ribbons either. Sure they weren't that special but it was still nice on bf3/4 to look at ribbons from time to time to see how many I had. I really don't think people should be praising this game so much just because of the setting, look at the content in bf1 then look at the content from bf4 (excluding the dlc content). BF4 was 3 years ago and BF1 doesn't even have a quarter of the things BF4 had. It's literally a step backwards. I don't know about PC but on PS4 there isn't really any noticeable difference in the graphics other than better lighting/ explosions and the ambient weather effects. |

Oh my. If there's one complaint I'm seeing from people it's the lack of guns..It's WW1. I feel the amount of guns is pretty neat for release and fun to use. The game HAS longevity. I barely see people complaining about lack of guns and actually loving the amount that is in the game. If you want guns just play BF4..Like BF1 really is an amazing BF game and comparing it to BF4 (which had a lot of weapons people even barely used) content is not even worth it. Even BF3 at it's start didn't have a lot of weapons like come on now..
