Personal tower time would be a big change. Associate with guilds purely for team-related friendly fire/defenses would be sweet... as in get your own 1k hours and get a personal prize instead of a guild-wide thing. Mouse jiggler programs or other illegal 3rd party stuff.

I don't see how people can bring up the issue of abuse of this system by idlers. If leaders are doing their job, those people will be kicked and won't receive hours. If they just appear active, then they would receive hat even without this system. I've always hated the way 1k hats are distributed. Complete discretion of the leader? That's real abuse. Every list I've ever seen has had at least 1 friend of the leader on it who didn't participate nearly as much as anyone else. A system like this would be much better than the current system, even if you think it has flaws. Of course, as mentioned, this idea might not even be necessary with the new guild system being introduced, or maybe it's already a part of it in some way. |

My point about appearing active is that it should produce the same result with either system. In the current system: if someone appears active, they should receive the hat. (Only case where it shouldn't be true is if 24 other people appeared more active) In the hour system: if someone appears active, they won't be kicked and will earn the hours that count towards them receiving hat. The similarity between the systems is that you still have to determine whether or not someone is actually active, but the difference is that the first one is entirely opinion based. Who helped more than who? When I said leader, I meant the owner of the guild has complete discretion of the list. Technically, after reaching 1k, the owner could kick everyone and just give the hat to 24 people who did not participate in the guild whatsoever, and the fact that is actually a possibility is just wrong. And it could be taken away and fixed with this hour system. Instead of using the guild roster for distribution, just give the owner and the top 24 contributors hat. Overall, my problem with the current tower reward system is that it is completely subjective. This suggested hour system is one way of making it more objective which is why I support it. I have hope that the new guild system will be more objective in awarding players. |

I personally think towering should go to a 1-guild per person system. There would be a completely separate guild system and only those guilds can tower. Someone is only allowed to be in 1 towering guild at a time. I think a points system - especially with the idea of losing points for kicking members - would work very well with this system, encouraging guilds to have 25ish solid members and that's it. I think that would help the entire system. I also think a guild should lose even more points if they kick/recruit the same person multiple times. I'm thinking like a Clash of Clans type of system, just as an example. You really stick with 1 clan (guild) your whole time playing, and if you switch, it's not very often, and there's definitely no clan hopping.

While I don't 100% agree with OP, especially because everything is changing soon, I will say that filtering monthly PKs to guild or friends (and adding your guild) is a pretty great way to see who is actually contributing. It's not perfect or anything, but it definitely gives a good idea.

I still have no idea what these changes are or why anyone knows they're coming.

They released a news update in-game that the month of May would be the last month for guilds to receive a 1k hat as the reward system was going to change after that (so that guilds that already had a few hundred hours would have a grace period to finish). Most people don't know the specifics of what the new system is like, but basically everyone knows a new one is being released. I like the idea of logging guild activity, but knowing the way Classic is currently setup I don't know if it would have the resources or capability to properly store these logs for a ton of guilds without causing any server issues. I'm sure there are basic things like time spent on a tag, kills gathered while on that tag etc that could be logged but I think logging things like recruiting/kicking would just be useless and take up unnecessary resources.

It would be more productive to assign temporary teams at a fort than the way guilds recruit now. You could assign unaffiliated players to team with a guild temporarily, add a little team size balance automatically in the meantime, and let guilds use permanent recruitment as a reward.

I think everything should be in the player. Your account should keep track of which Tags you wore most, Even after you leave the guild. I have a firm belief that the statistics page should be much longer, much like the ideas thallen once posted about stats. Player account should record the amount of times you hit the flag that season, how much time you spent on each individual tag that season, how many PKs BKs gralats and spars you had that season. This way guild leaders can check their seasonal BKs, guild tag time, and amount of times they hit the flag to find the best players in their guild |
