Everything with a purpose is being redone.

Big city, MoD Town, York, Destiny have all been added, and were all somehow part of the old pc map. They weren't all actual towns but were still on the map as something

it was redone because of many reasons, the map will slowly be reconstructed
1 town per year is being released on classic so if you stay awhile you can watch the magic happen

I have been noticing that the ammount of lag on 3300 online has be significantaly reduced.

Well, the obvious reason is because that content is not only extremely outdated and out of style, it's also content designed for a very different game. It's nowhere near as simple as you make it out to be. In fact, it's the exact opposite.
