I think the best way to go about this is to make it an object-based system. Certain types of bugs need to be attracted to different types of objects. For example, like shiz mentioned, there might be some water bugs BUT they would only be found near Lilly Pads. There might be bees, though you'll only see them near a bee hive which will be found in a tree. If you cut the tree down the bees will all storm out angry and attack you. Bee hives can only be found in certain types of trees. It's worth it to chop those trees down if you're okay with being slowed down by being attacked and losing HP. Also, here's a fresh idea that can kind of upgrade woodcutting a bit and also make bug catching more interesting. If your a high enough level of woodcutting, and have the right tools or so, you can pull the trunks out of the ground! Now, when you do that, maggots or worms will crawl out of the dirt and you can catch them. They'll give a small amount of exp but there will be a lot of them! |

Let's move away from the bug area a bit. Since we have scorpions and they're obviously not bugs then should this be called something else? I think it would be great to add in smaller animals such as rats, frogs, (already have scorpions), or even small birds. That way we could introduce even more traps than we can think of (bird traps for example.) |

Currently, the bug capturing system does a check for one point in front of the player to catch. The bug isn't always there, so you have to move around a lot to make sure you're exactly in the correct spot. I want to improve this by making it a 5-point check. It will do a check in 5 points, like this: ![]() The red points would be where it triggers to catch the bug.
For animals that are too strong you have to get their HP low to capture them, like in pokemon ??!?!

No -.- no no no no no no no no no no no no no I don't like this idea. It kinda sickens me like I need to earn another level thingy for bugs. -.- Isn't mining levels and tree cutting levels and fire-making levels enough for you?! |

Oh you mean the level 1 bugs are still the same price? What if you reach 100 level and you get 10k a bug?! 1000 level gets you 100k!!!! $0$ Wow I'm a little bit too greedy there ^^ |

Certain bugs will be found in certain places. You'll know where to go to train each level (catch a certain bug) |

You should make it were every hour or so all the bugs die and then respawn. Because older bugs are uncatchable and have to be killed and will prevent bugs getting glitched in walls and not being able to catch anything.
