Hey- you caught me working. Let me start by saying what I said in your video: I would never release a gun with a freeze/fire ratio like that. You caught me in the trial-error process of picking a fire-rate. Anybody who's been paying attention to my posts knows I'm heavily against overpowered weapons. As RedBoy stated, there's tons of great gun graphics and animations out there that unfortunately aren't being utilized. These guns either don't have stats at all, or they're overpowered/underpowered. I'm setting the stats in advance, so that is one less step we have to do when it comes time to release them. Here's my procedure: 1) Look for a gun graphic. 2) Get it's animation. If I feel it's a good enough graphic, and it's lacking an animation, I make my own. 3) Apply the animation to my test gun and set the bullet origin to the barrel of the graphic. 4) Set some starter stats on it, set its damage to 5(spars last longer, more time to test it without waiting in those long spar lines). 5) Spar with it over and over again to tweak its stats to be unique from other guns. This includes altering freeze, fire rate, spread, clip size, and reload freeze. I've spent hours tweaking a single weapon to ensure that it's given unique qualities, while maintaining balance. 6) Once its stats are perfected, I copy the script and paste it to my "Guns ready to be released" list(guns.txt on my desktop), and move onto whatever task is next in my life. I test guns in this manner because I like to have its stats defined before it's release; this way players aren't given the empty promise of spending money on a gun that will soon be nerfed. My preference would be to spar fellow admins, so that people don't get the idea that I'm giving myself an unfair advantage. But players are more readily available, and people like to see when progress is being made. To state the obvious, I only use these unreleased guns during these tests. Anybody who's ever seen me on one of my 4-hour spar sessions knows I prefer using a DEagle or Tec9. Because Era doesn't have one right now :3. I assure you, If it were to be released, it won't be overpowered. As you know, that's against my religion. Common sense would also be applied- A gun this size would slow the player down when equipped. And in the name of equality, a gun with a high fire rate would have an equal but opposite freeze.
The gun featured in this video/pictures is the KAS19, which was actually a gun on PC Era back in 2004, done by Blookat. Unlikely- I'm just adjusting the stats on it in the event that it gets released. It's still got to go through my boss for approval. This applies also to alot of the guns that you may see me test. The graphic and animations may fail approval, but I could apply the stats to a gun that will be released. |
