Internet Time Machine
I've seen a few 'Graal was way better back in the day, blah blah blah,' posts searching (though they aren't really that hard to find) things like 'socks' and 'peanut butter' on various Graal-related sites, and I was wondering something - If someone invented an internet time machine, and magically reverted all the servers on Graal and stuff back to how they were in the 'Golden Age', do you think people would actually stop quitting? Or do you think pricing and all would need to go back, too? Or, like me, do you actually think that it's over, and going back to it wouldn't help? The question just popped into my head now... Yeah.

Interesting topic, and the truth is I don't really know. For the players that actually experienced this 'Golden Age of Graal' I don't believe that bringing it back would be a fun experience. Nostalgia can only go so far, and its made of a lot more than the content that existed. Everyone's mindset, tastes, expectations, standards, memories, involvements, etc have all changed and that's not something you could bring back. I do believe that iPhone users may possibly enjoy the older content simply because it's something that they haven't experienced yet. That's not to say that the content would be entertaining for very long however, because it really is outdated. There's an obvious balance between the two here, and it is one that Thor is trying to achieve with PC Classic. I don't believe that his platform is going to help him though, whereas the iPhone server is open to a lot more players, and players are what really make a server. It is for that reason as to why I believe that the iPhone server has a lot more potential to be the new 'Golden Age' of Graal, and for all of these players that are playing on it right now, it will be. |

The only difference i was pissed off at was how instead of making the head/body upload a second option for purchasing heads and bodies... Now is a forced option in order to get heads and bodies.. Also, all the heads/bodies have been replaced with hats.. Lavender's clothing shop is the only place with heads/bodies.. I hope it doesn't get replaced.. Thats the only problem i have with Graal and it really bothers that the staff aren't considering to bring back the head/body graphic-type content anymore and instead are more focused on hats... Why was this forced and not considered a second option? And if this is the main option for heads and bodies... Why do you charge so much for a head and body? (4 dollars for one body is actually a hefty price.. compared to valuable add-on content thats worth about a dollar). At least lower the prices if this is gonna be our main option from now on... But.. this is just me ranting in my honest opinions and i must be complaining like a moron now... But man i missed the old times where heads and bodies were sold in shops ;( i hope they bring that back someday |

Graal in general, but mostly PC. People don't really talk about how they miss the good old days of the iPhone game, they mostly say how much it sucks, and the threads I was talking about were about PC.

It's unfair you need to pay 10k in the first place.

It's not really the content, it was the friends and community that made it memorable. At least for me. |

I wasn't around in the "Golden DAYS OF PC", however I was there for iClassic's Golden Days, it would be mainly so that I could revisit old lost friends, and appreciate some of the things old classic had.

I greatly enjoyed Graal in 2004 and I have fond memories of 2006-2008, but I would not want to go back to those times. I've always wanted to help make Classic better, and I believe that by working for Thor is doing that.

Why was this moved from General graal discussion to classic when it wasn't even directly related to classic, but old Graal in general?

I think it'd make things worse since, as people have mentioned, the old Graal is outdated and people would want things that Graal now has to offer. But who knows, maybe with iPhone's good playercount, maybe it'd give old PC Graal a new perspective? There's no solid answer to this. xD Also, this topic made me spawn an idea. The "Golden Age"; what makes a server have a "Golden Age"? Player interest, whether that is in the people they play with, or the gameplay itself improving. Everyone has different interests, especially when playing a game like Graal. Some go toward the tower takers and sparrers, others drift toward the art community, and others just hang out and try a bit of everything. Now, what stimulates a person's interest? Imagination, and options. The two things people love most; being creative and, generally, having many options to choose from. If you can stimulate those, you've got it made. So here's the idea, which I'm pretty sure isn't that new to you, just put in another perspective. Why can't we make a "Golden Age" by giving players more options, from heads or bodies or towers or anything? Because there are limited admins, some may say. But what if players uploaded these heads and bodies for people to buy? What if players submitted their leveling work to LAT admins to edit and finalize if they wanted to? Why not? The idea isn't like "everyone gets to be an admin". It's to invite more players to have an interest in contributing to the game. If more people want to contribute to the game, then, chances are, you're going to have more loyal players. tldr; Majority player interest = "Golden Age" Stimulate imagination + giving players options (in general) = interest more options for players to contribute to the game = interest = "Golden Age" |
