First of all, this is a thread about weed.
In the rules of Graalians it states: Graalians is open to all ages so any forms of adult content are not permitted, this includes posts regarding illegal activities, violence, or of a grotesque nature.

But since it's being legalized in most of North America it felt appropriate to post a thread about the topic, an open debate on whether it should or should not be legalized.

What are your thoughts and opinions on the plant? If you're for it, why? Are you a user? What are your favourite strains?
If you're against it, why do you think it should not be legalized?
If you're neutral on the topic and don't know much about it then maybe this thread will shed some light on it for you.

Personally, I feel as if it should be legalized. Yeah, I am a user but hear me out. Various studies in recent years have been targeting the medicinal benefits of marijuana and an outstanding number of them have proven that it has a plethora of benefits to it. They have concluded that marijuana can not only help stop and tame neurological disabilities such as epileptic seizures, but can also help fend off cancer by killing the toxic cells that attempt infecting others. Cannabidiol or CBD is another one of the active chemicals in weed, which has the analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety properties to it, all without the property of being high. Not to mention the use of hemp, the actual plant itself where the marijuana flower grows off of. Hemp can be used in things that are important to us in life, and can even be a replacement for things that are causing environmental issues. Things such as clothing, construction materials, paper, plastic composites and even biofuel can all be made out of the fibres and stalks from the plant. It has a low potential of abuse rate and is regarded to be one of the more harmless "drugs", so why is it still schedule 1?

It's a gateway drug and can still be bad if not used medically tbh.  

It should only be used for medicine if the doctor says you have too, But people who do it just to think there "cool" are killing there brain cells lol.  

I’m all for legalizing marijuana, but I’ve been a user in the past and have failed a government security clearance as a result of my usage. Until it’s legalized, I have no plans to use it again.

As for whether or not weed is a gateway drug, it depends from person to person. Marijuana isn’t inherently addictive, nor has it created any tendencies (for myself at least) to use other hard drugs. I’m only speaking for myself though, and this could vary from person to person. In my opinion, alcohol is more of a gateway drug because it impairs judgement and you’re much more likely to try other drugs when impaired by alcohol (my first weed experience was when I was drunk).

Yeah, that's undeniable, anyone who smokes it before the brain fully develops (24) is harming their brains. Contrary to that though, I was never really good with my grades at school. I started smoking in the beginning of the 11th grade but only on rare occasion, come 12th grade I started smoking on the daily and since then my average has gone up from mid 60s to mid 70s (some may not consider this good, but for a student in a situation like mine it's sweet news), so from my personal experiences with it I'm thankful that it helped me.

+1, alcohol kind of just does what it wants to do where as weed you still have a conscience.  

Being in a fairly drug filled town. ( which apparently is becoming worse) Where basically everyone does weed in school and in bathrooms of workplaces and ect.
I'm all NO on legalizing marijuana. I believe it may have some medical use. But should not be allowed to just any citizen. Ever.
I very much so believe it as a gateway drug. I'm thinking of one particular person irl when I say this. When they done marijuana, They moved onto bigger things not only out of curiosity but also because after a while it doesn't really do the trick. Then they share with others and so on.

And as for alcohol. That's really kinda a more where you live and who you hang out with and just who you are. I've actually seen more people who drink that don't do drugs then I seen people who drink and do drugs. Is this always the case? Probably not. I myself drink every now and then and would and even now am saying I'd be against marijuana. Because in my opinion id rather be a alcoholic than a drug abuser. I've seen too many people take drugs, Things like Oxycontin, coke, and even weed to know I would rather not be that way.

You still have a conscience when doing alcohol.( unless we are talking you are deliberately drinking massive amounts and getting a hang over). Probably same way with drugs. If you take massive amounts you'd probably start losing your conscious mind as well  

If you feel the need to disregard forum rules in order to discuss something, best not to discuss it.
