Even though its not the best game series, The Elder Scrolls is definately the most in-depth storywise. Just read through the wiki and the in-game history.

Id aregue that story depth wise... Halo is most indepth... 11novels 9 comics
2graphic novels and eventully 9 games...

I mean yeah the elder scrolls series is great, but when you beat it all you have to do is just run around and hack and slash. Or kill guards.
